Washing up liquid contains salt - I wouldn't recommend washing a vehicle with it.

Get yourself down to a bike shop and get some Muc Off and some de-greaser.

Halfrauds were doing a buy 2 get one free on all cleaning products recently, don't know if they're still doing it, but if they are, it's a good deal to go for.

Somebody on here once recommended a cocktail of 1 part car shampoo to 5 parts parafin and a splash of brake cleaner for colour in a spray bottle as a homebrew degreaser, I use this all the time and it's awesome and cheap to make! Just make sure you wash it all down properly and regrease as necessary after use!

Similarly you could probably get a perfectly decent car shampoo at the local pound shop.

Hope that helps.....

I'll spending all bank holiday weekend cleaning a bike which has stood outside for 10 years. Will pick it up next Friday, full of crud, road grime, moss even on the tank lips and probaly a population of spiders and creepy crawlies.
Have been watching the attached Autoglym link which I'll follow to best of my abilities.
