 |
|
...by other I mean funny, motivational, weird, etc.
I've been doing some reading recently and remembered when the best quotes were found by studying graffiti. It apears to be a dying art so wondered what were peoples favourite quotes.
A few of mine to start with
| Anon wrote: | Rules are for the guidance of wise men and the obedience of fools |
| Field Marshal Erwin Rommel wrote: | In a man to man fight the winner is the one who puts an extra round in his magazine |
| Sun Tzu wrote: | If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. |
| Woody Allen wrote: | Sex is like playing Bridge: if you don't have a good partner, you'd better have a good hand |
and I recently came across this interesting one which appears to mirror the recession/slump we're in at the moment...
| Labour Party manifesto, 1945 wrote: | The great inter-war slumps were not acts of God or of blind forces. They were the sure and certain result of the concentration of too much economic power in the hands of too few men. These men had only learned how to act in the interest of their own bureaucratically-run private monopolies which may be likened to totalitarian oligarchies within our democratic State. They had and they felt no responsibility to the nation. |
Please feel free to add more.
* yes, topic probably done before but thought it worthwhile updating and blowing the cobwebs off

Or, as I like to remember it:
"Give a man a fire, and he's warm for the night. Set fire to him, and he's warm for the rest of his life."
"If in doubt, kill it with hammers." is another one to live by.
Anything by Hunter S Thompson is typically worth quoting and teaching to your grandchildren as gospel truth, too. The man was a genius of the highest order, in his observations of people, as far as I'm concerned. ____________________ '10 SV650SF, '83 GS650GT (it lives!), Questionable DIY dash project, 3D Printer project, Lasercutter project |

I personally live by the mantra "We can't stop here, it's bat country."
I feel it speaks not only of the emotional capacity of man, but also his inherent refusal to stop in bat country. ____________________ Current Bikes: Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 (2020)

From then on, I and the bicycle feelings deeper. |

I can't believe that everyone has forgotten the single greatest man ever.
Ultimate Warrior
Instead of revising I sat down 2 hours before my programming exam and watched a few of his videos. Took some steroids, shouted to the Warrior god's above and ran to the exam. Needless to say I did shit, but on that fateful day. The Warrior was with me!

throttle you reminded me of this:
