hi

I am thinking that it is time to buy a new crash helmet.. I have had mine now for 8 years and it was cheap when i got it... I don't really use it that much as I am out of the country a lot(most of the last 5 years in Thailand).

What do u guys spend on Your helmets???? Where is a good place to get 1 near London... What about ebay....?

I got a slingshot but don't do much high speed tbh. Again I not in london that much and haven't got that much money...

I rem for years ago that crash helmet rot over time....

thanks

They generally say 5 years for a helmet life, but that assumes regular use, exposure to rain, sun etc etc, and maintenance.

I paid £40 for my current commuting lid - a Marushin.

The key is fit, not price, or brand, it should be snug on your head, but not exerting pressure overall or in particular places. Your cheeks should be squeezed by the pads pretty tightly - difficult to force in a finger, as they to get looser over time.

Pretty much all should have removable linings so you can wash them.

Wouldn't buy online, unless you have tried on the same helmet in a shop and know that it fits well.

Reckon you should get a decent lid for under £100 easy.

I got my Suomy from Cowplain, don't know the name of the shop, but was prepared to pay something in the region of £200, but because I fitted my head into an XS Laughing it only cost me £60. Happy days. Thumbs Up

I would always recommend going into a shop with loads on sale, and trying them on, and finding the one that fits you best.

Recommendations cannot help you with this I'm afraid, as every head is different.
