Stomach protection?

I have been having a few problems lately. One being that my left kidney is about 4 inches below my belly button and quite near the surface at the front.

I was advised to get some 'protection' with regard to any form of contact sports etc. This has also made me paranoid about possibilities of bike accidents.

What sort of protection is there available for the bit between your jewels and your belly button?
