if you need to get finance, why not get a cheap 125 and save the finance deal for a bigger bike.
New NSRs do not hold any semblance of value, old ones level out at a grand very nicely.

Call me vain or stupid if ya want mate, most people do hehe - it's just an ego thing - and also i'm a sentimental sod. I want to know that MY NSR is MY bike and that no one else has been on MY BIKE. lol. I want MY NSR to be MY BABY! - i'm just weird like that. - i'm prepared to spend all that extra money for that + I don't want 2 go thru all that agro of looking over a second hand bike so i guess it's just an ego thing Confused but how easy is it to get finance cos it's really worrying me.
Thanks for the advice though mate Smile

To be honest as long as you have a full time job getting finance shouldnt be a problem. The advice youve been given however is right, whats the point of buying brand new?

Youll lose money on it when you sell it and you *will* want to sell it as soon as you taste a bigger bike, youll want to sell it before youve finished paying off the finance but you wont be able to do it privatley because it will still be on the HPI register, your finance company will also be *very* pissed off. If you do want to sell it youll be able to trade it in at a shop but they will pay the finance company and not you, whatever is left over on the balance will still need to be paid off by you! You might be vain as you say but you wont be as vain when you bin *crash* your nice shiny brand new bike! To be honest i reckon youll be better of getting a loan *lower intrest* and buying a 2000 ish bike, youll get it for a lot less and wont lose half as much money when you come to sell it! Also my bike was second hand and its still My baby! Smile

Lol your own creation? you mean your own destruction!

I seem to remember something like this:

"I'm gonna look after this one, i know ive said it before but im gonna clean it all the time, im *not* gonna mash it up, im gonna keep this one like it is for a few years" Razz

I only wish you would have let me have the race fairings before you mashed em up Sad

Well i've not been on for a few days so i'll answer a few things:
1. I'm 18 Demonic69 mate
2. I can't get finance Crying or Very sad even though i now have a full time job, so i'm going for an older model (NSR125 1999 - if anyone knows anything about the bike including pics can u pleeeeease tell me cos i want 2 learn about it before i see the thing

The NSR 1999 It's gonna cost me just over £1000 but it is THIRD-HAND - should i buy the thing or will it be falling to pieces by now?

I'm doing my CBT on the 17th may and i'm looking forward to it/nervous. I've been loving bikes for ages but my experience is so little that when i sat on my mate's RS250 yesterday it nearly pushed me off and landed on top of me lol - starting right from the beginning eh?

I know i've come out with a lot of info but anything about the NSR 1999 would be appreciated

Andy

Totally depends on the 3 previous owners. It could be better than new. It could be falling to pieces. Treated well it will last ages. I saw an Italian import Cagiva Freccia for sale at a bike show once, which had done 45000km (30000 miles ish), and was about 12 years old. It was in better condition that alot of newer bikes he had for sale

All the best

Keith

You may not be able to get finance, but that could be a blessing in disguise as a loan should (normally) be much cheaper.

I'd be surprises if you couldn't get a loan of a few grand off of a bank, seeing as you have a full time job and are 18. Your own bank should give you a loan pretty quick if you've been with them a while.

Naw when i mean third hand i mean *I'll* be the third owner - according to the current owner's mate he "rides it like a little girl" lol which means that it should be in a fair condition if he's never dumped it. The problem is that i was told 2 strokes are really maintenance intensive and that if it's not been looked after i could be buying £1000 of scrap metal.

I don't really want to go for finance or a loan because I'll end up outgrowing the NSR before i can pay it back and i'd hate to be paying for something i don't have anymore. Rolling Eyes

Fair comment. Wink Each to their own and all that.

I bought mine new, and If I decide to sell it a year down the line and all I get back is enought to pay off the loan, Then I'll be happy enough Smile

I saw a site with (very small) pictures of the NSR125 1999 - I was really pleased to see it looks a lot like the 2003 one as one of the main reasons i wanted an NSR was its great looks (as well as the sitting position) but the pics are only about 2 inches wide and 1.5 tall so i can't make that great degree of detail out - are the NSR 1999 and the NSR 2003 basically the same bike?

Lol maybe my CBT can stop me falling off sideways eh? Rolling Eyes

www.nsr125.com that has pictures of most nsr's from 1994 to 2003
read all of the site as theres a fair amount of infomation on it. shame the video links just take you to a bloody console game cheat page though
