I dont have the space to start taking fairings off, I dont have the time to get in about my bike wih a toothbrush and clean every inch of it.
Its the same with the car, the cars easy £5 in a jetwash and bob's your granny nice and clean(ish).

I do however take my time with a bucket when I can be ars3d but thats useless for getting grease off the swingarm etc. I also lub the chain once a week.

So whats the opinion on using a jetwash on your bike?

Question Is it a no-no?

Question Sure why not it gets it clean.

Question Do you take the whole thing apart and spit polish her?

Question Do you just wave a rag at it?

If you would nver dream of jet washing, why not? Is it something you have heard is bad or something you know about jets and bikes?

Thumbs Up

I do a both of a jet wash and bit of old elbow grease.

You have to be careful though of things lke the radaitor and wheel bairings, chain... ect as these will be damaged. also depending on the setting of the washer it could cut through the rubber protecting the wires.

I jet wash mine, only way to get to some places and get the mud out. I have it on more of a 12" spread/fan of water and just take care, like mentioned, around the radiator etc. Still needs a good wash afterwards though and another rinse off.

same

i normally get any muck off with the jetwash then good old bucket and sponge/brushes etc.. for the wash then rince with the jet again.

my jetwash isnt powerful enough to cause any damage, was a cheapo one i got yrs ago and its worked out great. only ever used to wash teh bike/bikes and although its strong enough to get the grime off its not strong enough to peel up the laquer or anything like i've seen other people do with more powerful ones

Usually a bucket and sponge man though that may be more to do with me not having my own pressure washer or even a hose in my garden. Not ruling out an asda jet wash in the future though

I tend to give it a rise with a hose, then wash it down with cloths and warm soapy water.

Then I give it another rise, dry it and then wax it. Embarassed.

No jet wash. Laughing

I have one at home and there's a big industrial one down the road you can pay £3 for 12 minutes an get hot wax etc.

I use both but mostly the industrial one. When I had my RS125, the wheel bearings went on the front wheel and when I took them to get replaced my mechanic said it's the jet washing. Something about the wheel bearings not having rubber seals on them and the pressure in the water was just fucking them up.

I always take it easy round the wheels now.

Not a jet wash as such but I do pressure wash in the winter, throughout the summer though I just use a hose, sponge and bucket.

I jetwash my MX bike, but it does say no to in the manual

Can be fun on older bikes, it can find wiring faults and get into the fuel system!

If i bother to clean the bike i tend to use the garden hose, with the spray gun attachment as its not so agressive.

Jetwash, but I use the gentler 'soft rinse' setting as opposed to the 'split your skin like a banana peel' riot tank setting.
