 |
|
Just been tryingto get return rail times and costs and I've sussed out it's a complete scam and nightmare.
Info via the nationalrail.co.uk
Try 1 entered start and destination.
Got a price of £35.50 if I understand it correctly.
One change on outward journey.
Totally different route with 2 changes for return.
So, having done rail a little in the past I put in my own route.
Try 2 start to Sheffield and then Sheffield to destination.
Ok it took a little more fiddling with arrival and depart times but...
Total cost of tickets for the 2 legs of the journey £31.60.
Ok, only saved £3.90 but there's the thought in my head it could be a lot more with more digging (which I'm not doing as that's what computers should be for).
So, I conclude that they don't find the best fares and this certainly isn't in the best interest of the consumer (me).
No wonder transport system in this country is in a state.
Anyone any recommendations on actually getting the best deal(s)? ____________________ ...and the whirlwind is in the thorn trees, it's hard for thee to kick against the pricks...

Please do quote the section of the OP that mentioned there would be 3 people going...
Also, 3 people = 3 tickets. So it becomes even cheaper to drive/ride.
Its the London cabby excuse for charging so much, they apparently base their fares on 4 people sharing a cab, which works out cheaper then the tube (for 4).
Good to see that you're in the camp that considers Einstein a compliment, after all the man /was/ a genius ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...
From September 2014 to January/February 2015 I will not be using any English, nor reading any. As such, I won't be on here. PM at will, but I won't be checking/posting unless in emergencies. Certainly not for the first couple of months. Please berate me savagely if I break that rule... |

If you want to go from Preston to London 1st class it is cheaper to buy a 1st class ticket from Preston to Wigan and another ticket for the Wigan to London part of the trip. ____________________ If you dont like the way that I ride.......Stop trying to keep up!!! |
