Hi all,

Im getting the urge to start playing around with my bike now. As it is all ready the un-faired model in black i was wondering how hard it would be to streetfighter it. e.g dual headlamps..........

my problem is i dont know where to start or where to locate parts.

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on how i could go about sourcing parts. I have been on google and had a look round on lots of sites but none really give any idea of how they are gonna fit or if they are suitable.

So yh, if you got any ideas please reply.

Thanks
Tom

traditionally a streetfighter is a faired bike that has had the fairing removed and clip ons removed in favour of clamps and 1 peice bars.

the 650 is a naked bike so not quite but i see what you are going for.

All ill say regarding this is....the stock genuine electronics is very very good and youll need to spend a fair bit of cash on somthing fancy if its to be anywhere near the same in quality.

also wiring i tink may be stored inside the light on the stock unit, you would probably need to relocate that wiring or itll look awful.

and the twin dominator head lights not only look shit they are useless as well,
keep the single headlight,
put the money towards a decent rear shock or some usd forks

Speaking as a fellow SV rider, I'd say that hmmmnz is talking sense. Twin dommies make you look like a twat, and there's very little point in them. Spend the money on a tasty can and suspension upgrades. You'll get far more from it.

i think that the term street fighter is used all the time when putting flatter bars a stubby can and aftermarket headlamamp on bike lo

thb if you start putting duel headlights ect on it then you will makle it look gay but thats my opinion, keep the standard headlight and just change a few bits as they say less is more.

id start with slightly higher bars not renthals with a big dopey brace and padlol

then nice touches like hugger and belly pan

I prefer the look of twin headlights to the standard headlamp but I've read some really poor reviews on the dominator replacements. However, I have seen a pair of twin beams with a 'projector' lens a bit like buell types only not nearly as expensive. They're about £120 on ebay.

Somone's taken it further by adding a gas mask to the projector lights: https://secure.wisconsinwebwriter.com/mm5/graphics/00000003/GasmaskHeadlight_211.jpg

Looks pretty mean (much better than those crappy predator mask things) but not sure I'd be comfortable chopping up my existing setup in favour of this!

yh i see what you all mean, i can't find any i like anyways and i think money is going to be better spent on belly pan, rear hugger and some suspension upgrades.

Anyone have any recomedations on what suspension companys are a good choice?

I been looking at the scorpion cans but still trying to decide...also deciding between full vs slipon...

Im not too worried about the cost atm, as im hoping to get plenty of money form a personal injury claim from my accident and should cover the costs of turning "this bike" into "my bike"....if that makes sense.

Thanks for the advice, will get some pics of the bike up soon.

Tom

What injuries are you claiming for?

I have twin headlights on the 125... they arent fantastic at night, they look fairly gash and get abnormally hot.

well, it was a non-fault crash, and i was put in hospital over night, so my claim is for whiplash (standard), and significant bruising and muscle damage needing physio, luckily no broken bones, but was off work for two weeks as i could hardly walk. My solicitor said it should be around £2500 - £3000, already had two offers from them, premedical, at £1200 then £1500 which they said was way too low. Plus i will get a grand ontop of my personal injury claim for un-insured losses, e.g leathes, helmet etc.

Should be enough to do some nice work to my bike, and put a bit aside.

Fair enough, try not to set a figure in your head...as you will be disappointed... broken bones rack money up really quickly Laughing

ive heard these are good: https://www.intobikes.co.uk/products/003519/Pyramid_Plastics_Mantis_Nose_Fairing?src=fro&highlight=75525

but yeah as above you could buy a gsxr k1 front end for that.....

do the zx10 shock swap its a pretty common swap and proven to be well worth the effort,

as for front end, most people use the gsxr range for donors for the sv,
but you can pretty much use anything if you are will to press out the stem,

i still think you should keep the round headlight, i have done a few fighters in my time and have done all sorts of headlights, but i have found that the classic round ones do the job and are subtle enough not to take any thing away from the rest of the bike,
