After fixing the Fuel Tap problem, we have now come across something more major. When trying to start the bike with the Electric start, the engine turns but does not fire, the kickstart is useless and doesn't work at all as the teeth on the cog have just worn.

The ideas i have come across:

The immobiliser needs to be reset as we have been putting a battery from my friends Ped so this apparently can make the engine not fire as the immobiliser is kicking in.

The carb isn't recieving any fuel, i have no bike knowledge whatsoever so i don't have a clue how to clean the carb.

Thanks.

James.

It makes a chug chug chug chug chug noise, its turning the engine, just not firing, like a car does when its cold.

Did you couple the vacuum line up to the carb? There should be two pipes coming from the tap, one goes to the carb (fuel line) and one to the manifold that joins the carb to the engine (vacuum line). The bike will not run without this on. Make sure you dont mix them up, the vacuum line is the one from the bottom of the tap.

first pour a capful of petrol down the carb and try and start it, if it starts the problem is between the tank and the carb, but the carb is ok...

if it still wont start it probably is the immobiliser, and I have reset one before by unplugging every cable, and every fuse, and then putting them back, it worked for me ages ago on Y - reg speedfight.

BUT:
check for a good spark, and clean the plug first before you suspect the immobiliser, though i'm sure it is that.
