can someone tell me how long it takes (approximately) to remove original end cans and fit an aftermarket set?
Just called my nearest dealer for a quote to fit some akras on my ape...and they said it`d cost £100-150 coz it`s a 2 hour job atleast.
I can`t believe it takes that long....or does it? |

I know they won't, so I'd have to do it myself. ____________________ Doug97 wrote: Fuck you, what they did was awesome. You just wish you had the balls to be like them, instead of being constantly afraid that there's a rule somewhere out there you might be breaking. |

Changing to map 2 isn't a remap as such. Just activates the second fuelling map in the ECU that should have been activated after the 600 mile service.
It's easy enough to do yourself. side exit pipes are dead easy, as is cutting the relevent wire in the ECU. ____________________ My Flickr |

Well .....as you all made it out to be so easy i had another crack at it today.Once i`d sussed how to get the springs off (with thanks to big_ham and his coat hanger idea ) i had the new pipes fitted in about 30 minutes.
I`m proper chuffed with myself. That`s the first bit of tinkering i`ve ever done on a bike. Before this the most i`d done was tighten the chain and pump the tyres
cheers guys...you`ve just saved me a few £££ |

When I had it switched to map 2, it got rid of the low speed stutter completely, acceleration was a lot smoother and much more responsive.
Map 1 is there to meet emissions regulations, map 2 is specifically for race cans. This is taken from Here
Map-1 or Map-2 and exhaust:
Aprilia included the option of switching the ECU mapping between two modes.
Engine variant 1, aka Map-1 and engine variant 2 or Map-2.
The bikes are shipped with Map-1 enabled as standard.
This is a closed loop mode that uses the Lambda exhaust probe to help maintain a lean A/F ratio for low exhaust emissions. This mode is tuned to work with the stock mufflers and Cat converters.
Map-2 is for use with racing mufflers and without Cat converters. It is tuned for performance and is not emissions friendly. It does not use the Lambda (runs in open loop mode).
Though it is not used, the probe must remain connected.
Switching between the two modes is only possible with the AXONE or the Navigator. ____________________ carbon bling |
