Take one knackered RC buggy - take an RC aeroplane engine ... and amalgamate the two ... Idea

I need to watch the CoG, but I think the radio gear should counteract the worst of that!!

You should spend your free time (which appears to be every waking moment) helping the needy and the unwashed .... not building bastardised radio control craft/vehicles Rolling Eyes

You will all be pleased to know that the AirCar is now complete and ready for testing!! Smile

The throttle servo mounting took some head scratching, but what I have done works a treat - just a shame it means even more high up weight!! Confused

Oh and as for using my powers/time for good to the needy ... screw that, what have they ever done for me!?!?! Very Happy

Do you know what's funny??? I have fitted it with 35mhz gear*!! Laughing

It's ready for testing now!!! Thumbs Up

So I wonder how sh1t it is going to be?!!?? Thinking

It clearly won't be up to much on grass, but should be ok on tarmac ....

Two things come to mind .. one I have no brakes of any kind!! Shocked and two, with all that high up weight, I am gonna have to watch turning it over in tight turns, the prop won't like that one bit!! Shocked ... I am hoping that having the battery pack right over the front like that should give me some steering authority Thumbs Up

Well you could either add some extra weight to it as low as you can to lower the centre of gravity and improve the balance or you can add some protection like some roll bars? Razz

If it's anything like RC things on wheels I've used before then doing a sharp 180 degree turn seems to be the best way to brake... if only you can perfect a way of doing this. I guess a reverse gear is pretty much impossible?

Interesting Concept indeed.

Perhaps add a protector around the prop, like on hovercraft (A Cone could increase speed)

Also, call it aiRCar, for the obvious RC'ness Razz

As for the high CoG, bigger wheels? would allow the chassis to be closer to the floor (with some modding to the axles)

Demanding Video.

ACE! Now just strap some wings to it and a tail. And you could have the worlds first RC car/plane. OMG that would be soooo sweet.

I am pretty sure it wouldn't be the first .... but I like your thinking!! Thumbs Up .... alternatively, I could just bolt the chassis onto the bottom of one of my aeroplanes - and cheat!! Laughing

Why don't you urn things around? have the prop pulling the car from the rear and steer from the back, like a forklift truck. Rear wheel steering, prop pulling the car.

Actually, I believe the next step is to attach a video camera on to this somewhere (once it's a bit more controllable) and have some fun with some unsuspecting pedestrians!

Maybe something on top of it to lure them in.... like money! And possibly a very loud horn if they try to take it Laughing

It's like an RC planes body, with an RC cars engine, that actually flies!

Wait...
