Is it just me, or do the testosterone levels seem to be getting a bit high lately?

I can definitely sense some sort of anti-Guest vibe, and was not surprised that Korn needed to close down the forum for a while the other day.

I'm not actually pointing towards any of the flame wars posts either. Guests or newbies asking perfectly valid queries are sometimes getting the third degree for their naiveness (ok, and occasional ignorance), which then turns yet another post into a slagging match. Then there are those who take other peoples' opinions as a personal insult, and those who just provoke reaction by posting stuff that is probably best left private.

I'm not gonna request for everyone to chill, 'cos that would be selfish, but it would be a shame for the "reputation" and image of this forum to turn into that of a school playground.

Ho Hum.

I agree with ya Tin there seems to be arguments happening left right and centre in the BCF forums lately. Maybe it's the heat. Twisted Evil

I think some of it could be solved by having a 'newbie' forum - then folk who are new can hang out and talk about newbie things.

Nice people would go in and help them out with questions. Face it, people dont read FAQs. But it might just provide enough segregation to stop the fighting.

Might be worth a go anyway.

Hi

Tend to agree. Some Newbies do ask silly questions, but so what. Many learners do silly things and they learn from their experience. If I can I try and help, but I don't want to get involved in any flame wars.

Maybe a Newbie forum is a good idea. Maybe also we could do with an extra moderator or so who can transfer threads over to the fights and flamewars section extra pronto.

All the best

Keith

Agree with you there, Keith, one isn't enough, Korn Razz.

I tend to agree with the newbie section too, then General Chat wouldn't get filled with some of the uselessness that occurs Smile.

Maybe have a... post system. Past 50 or whatever posts, then you can come play in General Chat. Just an idea.

I agree with that idea although I would've got annoyed if I couldn't come and chat with the regulars, just the newbies for 50 posts!

it'd just be a bunch of newbies in there with questions but no answers so they'd still be asking the questions once they are allowed into general chat!

I nominate Keith (kickstart) or EvilBendy (Sar) to be a moderator if there were going to be more...both have a rather un-biased opinion and are 'mature', civilised and the rest, to do fair (on both parties that is) moderation duties. Possibly Robby too..maybe.

I'm surprised some board members aren't 'secret' moderators actually. Rolling Eyes

Yeah, "mature" is one way to put it Wink Moderating an active forum like this requires a lot more responbility than we give Korn for...not that he deserves any credit anyway, especially since he can't even set the clock on his server properly Laughing

I think that whoever mentioned the "Newbie" forum has hit the nail on the head. When someone comes to the site the vast majority of their questions could be answered by looking in the "FAQ" forum. I don't mind people posting and asking questions, jesus all of us do it, its just when you log on after a few hours/days and your swamped with the same old questions about de-restricting NSR's, what oil should i use etc etc... i've got no problem answering these questions but when you have to do it time after time it gets a bit annoying. someone once posted a question asking how to remove a stubborn bolt, i mean come on it does get a bit stupid some of the time. And Robby i admit me and Kev have our fair share of arguments but *most* of the time we do it in the appropriate forum so i don't see why it bothers everyone so much, and if you actually read that whole shitty thread which i doubt you did then you would see that it wasn't just Kev, Clint and myself.

I've talked to Kornel about getting some proper moderators on the site, i've mentioned the usual suspects Bendy, Tin, G, Keith etc... but getting him to actually do anything is like trying to make your typical RS rider realise their bikes *wont* do 120mph Very Happy
