failed cbt

Ive never been on a bike in my life, and think i struggle co-ordinating my hands and feet at the same time.

I could do all the manuevers however im no good with letting out the clutch and switching gears . i progressed quite well through the day but it got to around 2 and everyone was already on the road . to be fair to the instructors they did try. but i wasn't allowed out on the road. I have been told ill need to come back and pay 55 to take an extra afternoon. is this fair?

i also wondered if i could just pass the cbt on an automatic, then get a 125 motorcycle and practice using it by myself in empty areas, is this allowed?

I realise im a new member and im already asking questions, but hopefully you'll be able to help.

Hi

You cannot fail CBT as it is not a test. It is just training.

They have agree a price of X for that training. They have not signed you off (quite probably correctly). I am dubious that they can then try and charge you more to complete the training they agreed a price for.

Its probably best to carry on under the eye of an instructor with the geared bike- your soon get the hang of it

I would query the need to pay the amount again to be honest- as you didnt receive the full days worth of training last time. How much was your cbt last time?

yes i think they were justified in not letting me out.

I dont really want to take the easy way out, its just that i have to be really conscious about money. ive already payed 125 for the cbt, and now ill b paying another 55 for this. i cant afford to fail again.

if i did it on a moped i could maybe get some lessons on a geared 125 from somwhere a bit cheaper ouside of london where my uni is.

this is really frustrating ive always wanted a bike, never even thought about a car, passed the theory test and wanted to move on to a das. guess ill need to rethink things

take in your cycleing proficienncy test certificate and they should give you a discount.

dont worry i sometimes wonder why i passed my CBT. youll get the hang of it mate. just go back and im certain you will be on the road on day 2

From my local riding school, and they said if i wore flourescent ankle clips they would knock a further 5% of as they havto spend far to much on repairing clooged up chains. Fair enough you look silly but save a few quid.

hey like the guys said above; they should just train you till your able, most places i know offer the next day for free, as they just garuntee a pass, this lines up with the other chap who was saying about an agreed fee for training. it wouldnt harm you to get a 125 and have a little learn urself getting used to the clutch and whatnot, but i wouldnt take it on the road - and get a 100cc theyre alot cheaper,

as for the cycling proficiency ive never heard that before, dont think my cbt/training people offered that discount or any other discount.
