I'm looking to get some custom made earplugs made up, ive heard that you can get them done with earphones built in for around £50+.

I live in norwich and apparently there is a company that does in norwich, but i dont know the name of the company, or where they would be.

I've tried google and yell.com but turned up with nothing.

anyone live in norfolk and know of any place in east anglia?

any help much appreciated Thumbs Up

My custom made ones cost around £70-80 I think, while the ones with earphones were about £100 extra!
The Sennheiser headphones I use in the office and at the gym (£25 from richer sounds) also seem very good at reducing external noise (haven't tried on the bike though), so may be worth giving that sort a go - presume similar to the skull candy ones.

Are custom (non speaker) plugs worth it over cheapo disposable ones?

If they're good and they fit alright, and are comfortable then yeah I guess so. There was a company in Sidcup that showed up to the Excel this year selling them for about £60, they looked alright but I'm not sure how comfy they'd have been. I seem to get on alright with cheapy foam ones that cost buttons, so I think I'll stick to those

Indeed. I got custom plugs from Ultimate Ear without earphones made up at the NEC a couple of years ago.

https://www.ultimateear.com/

All you need is to find an audiologist who can make the impressions of your ear for you and then you can send the mold off to a company like Ultimate, so they don't need to be local to you.

If you can wait until a bike show you can get the molds done by a company and save yourself £20-£30 as they will do it for you.

I really rate mine and think they're the best purchase I've made bike wise but IIRC LeeR from here also has a pair and doesn't rate his quite as highly as I do... Thumbs Up

You could try hanging around the general chat section of Bikechatforums, that's a common place for earplugs and other bike related paraphernalia to be hawked by all and sundry Laughing

I believe that's where I got mine from too.
If anything, I'd say they don't block out quite as much as some foam ear-plugs. However, they are much more comfortable and can be used for long periods fine.
I tend to use them when sleeping at Festivals, race meetings etc, so they are in my ears for eight hours a day for quite a few consecutive days, where foam ones start to hurt a bit.
Saying that, I've got some ear plugs based around the similar 'ear bud' principal that seem to work quite well too as well as being comfortable and cost me under £10 if I remember (lasted me a few years now).

Hi

I have some Green Leopard ear plugs. I seem to have pretty small inner ears and struggle with the foam ones (one ones that stay small enough for long enough to get into my ears properly more than occasionally are some sets that got roasted on the parcel shelf of the car for a year).

I did ask them about some with earphones. They said they used a seperate connector for the ear phones to keep them safe and then just used a tube from the phones up to the ear plugs. This way if they got damaged you just trimmed a bit off the end rather than being left with trashed ear plugs, or trying to find some earphones the same to fit the moulded plugs.

All the best

Keith

Give some of these a go..

https://www.bikechatter.co.uk/ear-plug/999-alpine-motosafe-earplugs.html

I have a number of foam type plugs that are being tested and none come close to being as good as these so far. Not got any full custom plugs yet but I will be doing soon.

cheers

moulded ones stay in your ears better, well for me anyway. plus they don't fall out of place when getting helmet on etc. stability of reduction or something like that lol plus comfier.

i got clear ultimate ear jobbies, think there around 32-28 db protection. if u got a shoei, get the windskirt as well. pretty dam quiet then!
