Apparantly not, I was well impressed with the service I got yesterday. I was helping my mate sort his ZZR600 out and we needed service items. Poped into halford on a friday night 5 minutes before it closed. I was after 4 spark plugs, oil filter and oil. I managed to get all of these for a 15 year old kawker with no trouble at all and it came to under £50!
The guy was really helpful, I was blowned away thqat they stocked these parts and didn't cost the earth.
Halfords gets 2 thumbs fresh from Chris ____________________ Well, you know what they say. If you want to save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs.

Problem with Halfords is I usually pop in for oil, chain wax or something, spot and offer and come out with £25's worth of stuff I didn't think I needed.
No complaints from me on what they offer though.... they even stock Meguiars products. |

As I've probably mentioned before, my local Halfords ask 'petrol or diesel?' if you want spark plugs.
Fills me with confidence. ____________________ As seen on Google Street View https://tinyurl.com/yfdvojc |

Never had a good experience with them. Went to get a battery for my scooter and the bloke took it out and ended up rounding a screw off when he put it back together Then when I went to return a socket set (that last all of 5 minutes) I waited for about 20 minutes to get served because they were too busy putting a display up or something. Some woman was screaming her tits off because of that It was rather funny. ____________________ KTM 990 SMT & Suzuki DR-Z 400 SM |

Halfords is what it is, one stop shop, and if you are in a hurry for a service part or tool, chances are they might have it. Although you may well have to pay over the odds for it. Exception to this is their range of torque wrenches which RiDe tested as quite accurate and at a price well below the equivalent from other manufacturers.
In Reading, there is a dedicated motorcycle parts shop a few hundred yards down the road from the halfords, it would follow that it should be more expensive, but it is often surprisingly cheaper, its literally a counter, most things are hidden and you need to ask for, so its rare to walk out with shite you don't need, and the guy who runs it knows his own stock well, so it isnt like talking to a monkey.
Although imo if you are in halfords looking for advice, you have bigger problems than they do.
Oh and a final minor point, their advertising style on TV annoys the shit out of me, ever seen halfords finding a paint match and applying it to your car with a compressor? (assuming they prep the surface first etc) utter bollocks. ____________________ So in other words, he stopped you for being flagrantly in posession of a motorcycle in direct contravention of the Hippies, Darkies and People Whose Face I Don't Like The Look of (Police Powers) Act. 1976 |

Halfords is bloody expensive for most things I find but it is open when motor factors aren't. Their tools are very good though and constantly on various offers so well worth getting.
Amusingly, I was queuing in there the other day for fucking ages, as you do, and the woman in front of me was buying a windscreen wiper. She asked if she could have it fitted and the guy said she would have to wait for quite a while but instead of saying never mind, I'll do it, she said she'd be outside waiting in the car. When I walked out she was sat with her husband patiently in the car park. I couldn't believe that they didn't feel, even working as a team, that they could install this fucking wiper themselves rather than wait for half an hour ____________________ ZX6R + CBR600RR |

Hi
Probably very much depends on your local branch staff. Never had any real problems with the local one (and at least one of the staff still there was there when we moved to Stafford 14 years ago). Prices are variable, but a while back I needed a water pump for a car. Halfords wanted the same as the best other local price I had managed to find (Partco), but got it in next day while Partco wanted an extra £5 for next day delivery.
All the best

i like halfords and what they offer, what I dont like generally is the people they employ which tends to be people that recently left school, dont give a shit and thick as shit dickheads.
i bought spray paint from there not long ago as the kid behind the til was asking what my graf name was
ive walked in there seen something that I thought I would buy, a week later I decde to buy it as I have the money and get told that they've never stocked the item and its "specialist tool" seems to the phrase that gets thrown at me. ____________________ Dean Stone #777
