LED/neons

some one set me right here as i keep getting different awsers all i want is some LED's or neon strips to light the engine so mounted above and below the engine shineing towards it but i get some people telling me there illegal and some say there not and onley illegal in the US but onley blue are illegal here so can someone tell me please if they are or not in the UK

As far as I know, showing blue and green lights unless your emergency services/doctor is illegal in the UK. White light should only be shown to the front and red to the rear.
Amber is probably ok.

You could just write 'chav' in big letters on the side of your bike instead .

I do usually have some LED strips on my bike actually, and suspect some do think it looks a bit chav - however it does help me be seen (they are on my handle bar muffs pointing out) so I live with it.

You can have them but you will havto pay a carbon footprint levvy and 2 pound a month to keep the fashion police onside.

The Law is;
White at the front
Amber at the sides
Red at the rear

Any colour;
Offroad use only.

Strobe LED/Neons;
Illegal

You may see people with coloured neons and LED's but if there seen, they can have a match of blue strobe lights in the rear (pulled over) with a lighting fixed penalty.

Even still, using neons/led's legal colours - may have you pulled over but you need to inform them how the DVLA stand on the colour of the lighting.

i had blue leds in my tail section for show use but got pulled for ridding with them on but they said white to front, red to back not sure if any other colors are ok though

Most police don't even know the law on this, so it's not surprising if normal people don't. No red lights on front of a vehicle. Coloured LEDs/lights are perfectly legal providing they don't flash, they MUST be solid. So it is perfectly fine to have blue LEDs providing they don't flash. Googling this should bring up the relevant laws, I have googled it before to prove the point, and quite frankly I am disappointed so many people are saying it is illegal.

I only googled it as the last owner put flush mounted indis on the front and blue leds where the old indicators would've poked out of, and was worried I'd need to remove them.
LEDs are cheap chav tat (or in my bikes case, cheap 40 year old Polish woman tat), but if I went out of my way to take them off, I'd be just as vain.

Adding neon's to any bike, whether it be a Ducati 916s, RD 350, KTM, GSXR etc... Will automatically make it less cool then a pizza delivery ped. FACT!

Don't do it. It's not cool. It wont make people look at your bike and go "wow that's cool", they'll just look at you and go "wow what a tool". No offense, but that's just how it is.
