In truth, You can tart up a 125 as much as you like, it's still a 125. I'd make sure that you get the one that's most fun to ride, not the one that looks most like a 600/litre bike.
Especially given that the sports bike chassis is designed so that you take all the serious weight off your wrists at about 50-60 mph, there's not really much benefit to shelling out for a race-lookalike 125, other than appearance.

In terms of the nicest colour scheme, though, I'd go for the red, white and black one. Like this:

I'm guessing that it's a 2007/8 paint scheme, though, because it's not on the Yamaha website now...

I personally think the black looks nicer. That said the replica is ok, but looks a bit over-stickered for my liking (on the yamaha website anyway).

if your buying it for looks, you could get a second hand one thats only like a year old. and with the money you save you could get a professional paint job done.. 1 of a kind Wink

A month is nothing. If you want the Black and you have to wait then do it.

However, I doubt any one on here would recommend buying a brand new 125, unless you have money to burn its just not worth it. If you do have money to burn then you want this

+2 for the mito Thumbs Up

I still want one even on full license. Shame they're mostly molested.

+1 on a YZF-R125 being a TOTAL waste of money.

Lot of plastic to break too if you drop it wearing trackies

I hope its put together better than the ybr250 i looked at.
It had splattery welds around the headstock and the exhaust looked like it was made for another bike as the end can was single but there was a blanked off bit from where it looks like in another market it would have had a twin, also it only has a drum brake rear.
I prefer the kawasaki ninja 250 jobbie. Which is cheaper than the 125 i believe.

from what the guy in yamaha dealership in poole said, there just putting the ybr250 engine into the yzfr125 frame. so quality of the bike etc etc, would essentially be the same of the yzf125. which is very good Thumbs Up

logicly yamaha should make the 250. there already manafacturing the engine and frame etc etc just a matter of putting it together. plus it would be a competator for the 250r.

but, theyll probably rush it and ruin something. at least there will be more bikes in the 250 range.. currently basicly the only choice is the ninja.

i prefer the black one just because i deem it to be more understated, saying that though my fave one would be the toseland rep.

dont get a 4T 125. Especialy not a YZF..
If you just need something thats boring and slow then get a cheaper 125 4T.

But whats the point in having a "nice" looking sports bike thats about as fast as a granny mobile electric chair?
Get a mito or RS125 or atleast a 2T. RS125s are good bikes, there fast enough, light, have good brakes, handle well, grip well and are fun to ride and are reliable enough.

Sounds like another pile of old shite IMHO. If that really is Yamaha's plan the result will make the Ninja 250 seem like a cutting edge sports bike.

they should try and squeeze in a 400cc Thumbs Up the Ninja 250 is a rip off if people think of it as a sportsbike..

I couldn't believe how shit they were when I rode it back from the dealer. I thought it had stalled when I was at the lights because I couldn't hear the engine ticking over but it was. Takes about 5,000rpm before it even moves anywhere.

Sure someone claimed they can do 70mph the other day, I was pushing it as fast as I could an it was doing about 50

Surely they're only doing it for the 33bhp market though?

for the 250 theyd be stupid to put it over 33bhp.

although there is talk of a 400 version. but i cant see it happening.
