Hi guys
I'm looking to buy a mountain bike for some riding in the hills and longish distances on the flat. I don't want to spend a fortune because I wont be pushing it that hard and can't really afford much more than £200.
I've been looking at the Rockrider 5.2 from Decathlon. Do any of you that know more about mountain bikes think it is half decent or is there something else I should be looking at for a similar price? I'm mostly trying to justify spending the money so be nice .
Thanks |

Thread not so long ago on 2-300 quid MTB's fella. Worth a read
In fact, here it is:

personally I'd steer clear of new and go s/h for that money, you'll get a decent GT Avalanche disc 07 or 08 model for that price, and a Specialized Hardrock disc for not much more - in good nick too. |

Good info there. Would be looking at something similar myself. The only problem I have is I would think that people would think I'm a chav/druggy with no other transport or job. I really don't like the cycling outfits/clothing and not sure I could wear one of those daft helmets.
So my question is: What do yous wear? and a helmet, yay or nae?
I've got plenty of country roads that could go for miles on miles around here and had a thought about it riding back home tonight on the KLX - mountain bike, countryside, sunny, The Smiths in the earslugs , sounds like heaven and as a bonus I get fit.
(Didn't/Don't mean to hijack the thread.) |

Yeah, always a lid - I've got a Specialized lid that was comfy and cheap, wouldn't recommend buying one online without having at test of it first, to make sure they're comfy
You just get used to it really, better to look mildly like a spacca than to be covered in claret when you smack the floor |
