whats your experience with rideing, im guessing youve not spent more than 20 hours in the saddle of a 600 or bigger, in which case it will be very similar to the new r6. infact all 600's will feel very similar. no problems with that r6 that i know of, its slightly softer than the older or next gen r6's but you wont be able to notice the difference, there are a few differences but you would need to be a experiencied rider to notice them.

Depends how you ride it to be honest, when I was commuting I got 120 miles before reserve. Keeping the throttle pinned I get around 85 before reserve

I liked my 05 model R6: comfy, reasonably frugal, well built, reliable (early gearbox problem sorted), quick enough. I'd buy one over the latest model that's for sure.

There's quite a large difference between the 06 onwards R6, and the 03. The 06 onwards is consideraly more track focused and more harsh to ride at road speeds.

The 03-05 bike is much easier to ride on the road and get the most from it.

thanks all for information, i just want a nice bike i can use at weekends for a blat and during week to commute to work, my work is about 5 miles away so the riding position wont be a problem, i wont be hammering the bike so 120 miles for something like 12 quid sound good to me (considering the impreza i wanted to buy only does 200 miles to 55 quid), i am also looking at getting an exhaust for it, i know this is also personal preference but i want one thats got a nice deep tone on idle but makes a bark when rev'd, i love the loud ones but will be riding to work at 5.30am and dont want to upset anyone lol, any help greatly appriciated

Racefit would be a good choice for your aural delight - or stubying a normal can.

I had a 'povic exhaust fitted to mine - with the baffle removed. Wasn't stupidly loud, but a pleasant tone to it - but not a real big bore 'deep' sound on idle.

The new shape R6's are nothing like the old ones. The old ones actually had some low down power, they weren't as stiff and track focused as the new ones. They are a completely different ride.

I had a 2006 R6, it was quite quick, no power below 10,000rpm but after that it was OK. Not the easiest bike to ride, you have to be in the right gear coming out of corners otherwise it won't move, and it was quite twitchy, but handled well. Its very hard and you feel every bump, and its far from comfy!

The 2003 bike will pretty much be the opposite to that!

so it seems i will have even more fun on the 2003 r6 then, sounds good to me, for some reason i found the 2006+ r6 convidence bringing as i found it nice and easy to ride with plenty of poke and brilliant round corners but if the 2003 is better than sounds good to me!!
