Hi all,
Im currently want a Triumph Speed Triple but the hike in insurance is to high for me as i have only been riding since March. I have therefore been considering the Speed 4. I am currently riding a Honda CB500 and see that the S4 would be a vast improve ment in every way.
Does anyone have any buying tips? Also any mods they recommend that work well on the S4.
Cheers
Lee

Well, There isn't much that goes wrong on them, although there were two recalls. One to have the plastic fuel connectors replaced with anodised aluminium ones, and the other to swap over the rear shock bolt so that it doesn't rub on the wiring loom. Check they have been done. If you get the reg number and take it to a Triumph dealer then they ought to be able to tell you if they've been done - although I have found that their records aren't always 100% accurate...

Check the usual, tyres, chains, brake pads, crash damage etc. and you'll be fine.

I've got a speed four, thinking of selling as it doesn't really push my buttons (coming from a 1150gsa and a daytona 675) Marjay binned it I fixed it. Very Happy

The fuel injection is a little lumpy below 3k, but above that its nice and smooth. Goes where you point it, behaves well.
As mark said just watch out for the normal bits and bobs. Service history is a plus, and most recalls will be done at time of service.

Have you phoned round many insurers? It's cheaper for me to get insured on a speed triple than a speed 4.

One of the reasons i got my S4 was is because insurence (for me anyway) is half the price of most other 600's.

Damn good bike too. Had mine for 2 years, never missed a beat and has taught me loads Thumbs Up

Will soon be up for sale, but only because i want a big twin for a change

My fuelling down there is fine it only seems to effect some bikes. I hardly ever go down that way anyway.

I'm 22 and took out insurance on my 05 S4 1 day after passing my test. Came out at £35 a month which I'm happy with.

Love this bike!
