I am getting my cylinder back on Monday or Tuesday. It will have been re-bored ready for the new piston.

Now my question to you lot is...

What can you recommend me to do on the rebuild procedure.
I've built a 4 stroke bike engine (my CRF Fiddy engine), And this will be the first 2 stroke engine I've built.

I've already checked for play in the conrod. There is left to right play, But absolutely no up/down play at all. This is right isn't it?

I've cleaned all traces of gasket from the block, And the bottom & top of the cylinder.

All water ways are clear.

Cylinder head, I have polished up, cleaned up the face with some autosol. Everything is good.

Should I oil the piston or cylinder with anything as I assemble the top end?

And can anybody get me the torque settings for the head stud nuts please?

Thanks in advance

Ben

oil the moving parts with 2 stroke oil. thats crank, small end, piston and barrel.

the head and barrel are held on by M8 studs right? should be about 25nm then.

Cheers matey. Isn't this cylinder just an RD250 cylinder? of course, the RD engine has 2 of them.

It's probably more similar to half of a TZR250 engine.

Thats the one! In fact, I know its half of a TZR250 engine because I remember somebody on here who used a 250 cylinder on his 125.

I'm now about to have my tea, what I'll do is as soon as I've finished is go find you the torque settings for the cylinder and head. Be aware that it's really difficult to get a torque wrench on the cylinder bolts Evil or Very Mad

I've just checked in the haynes DT + TZR 125 and it says Cylinder head nuts 2.2kgf m or 16lbf ft

Cylinder barrel nuts 2.8kgf m or 20lbf ft.

Hope this helps
