Honda CG 125cc at 110MPH?!

Being in awe of CG's I found this and I'm quite stunned and I'm not sure if it's more because of the stupidity of how dangerous it looks or if wind resistance actually has that much of an effect? I do know that ducking down on my CG certainly has gotten an extra 5MPH at times but this is craziness

At apx. 9000 RPM can the 5th gear of this bike even hit this speed?

Mind you, the older ones (70's/80's) could do about 90/100...

Not a hope that is true for a CG125.

9000rpm in 5th would give you 123kmh. To hit 170kmh on stock gearing would require about 12500rpm.

Even with double the power I doubt it would be unable to hit those speeds in the video.

I thought it was faster than possible on a stock engine. Or maybe that guy's speedo is broken - either way. Even a 150 engine Dunc I don't think would have the horsepower required to do that kind of speed. Maybe it's downhill and this video has false perspective?

Hi

Not a hope. The CG is a basic pushrod engine with a cam profile limited by its design (common cam for inlet and exhaust). Even if a 150 then that is only 20% extra capacity. Say taking it from 11hp to 14hp (being generous), which might just about get it to a bit over 80mph, and would still need at least 2/3 more power to get to the speed in the video.

I have to label the description of this video officially inaccurate in my book then what's weird is what little you can see from the video the engine does look as small as a 125.

Wouldn't want to be giving false hope to teenagers on their CBT

To be honest given how slowly they overtake clapped out trucks I would suspect that someone has played with the other bikes speedo drive (either speedo healer or played with gearing) to provide the video as a windup.

I wonder if 'FAN' means turbo
