£3000 for a mint condition Versys with Kawasaki branded panniers, 3 screens, hand guards, front mudguard extension, new tyres and FSH. The seller was a really decent bloke, so even the painful experience of handing over £3000 in cash was made less so.

It's an absolute dream to ride, after 3 years on my drab, gutless KLE 500 the engine on this is a frakkin' revelation - I can finally overtake on fast roads without planning ahead like Napoleon!

It's comfy, smooth, fast and good looking in a rather ugly sort of way - I love it Very Happy

Snap!

They didn't become MCN bike of the year 08' without reason. They're superb.

Get onto here for Versys related queries: https://www.versys.co.uk/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=45

Not sure why the top lip on your screen is missing. Shocked And the general recommendation for winter riding is to get a hugger.

I've got an '07 model - it's got silver frame and normal screen. That's an MRA screen on it, but without the extra bit - which I'm going to be getting.

I like the black frame though, need to work out how to sort that out - be it new parts or powder-coating or something.

It's a fookin' beaut of a bike though, isn't it? I've had a shitty shift trying not to beat some sex offenders to a pulp (why are the worst villains always the whiniest and most demanding?) but my 20 min commute home unwound me completely!

Really enjoy it but the exhaust note isnt that inspiring. I preferred the sound of the V Twin on the SV. If I take the baffle out, its much fruitier to the point of deafening and attracts unwanted attention. Needs a PC too to get the fuelling right with no baffle in.

Very much so on the exhaust point ^^. When I'm commuting in London, the baffle remains in as otherwise it's just obnoxiously loud.

Every additional mile I do on the bike, I grow to love it more and more. Think mine has 1500 miles on it now at 7 weeks old. I've not seen one other on the road yet, can't believe they aren't as popular as I reckon they should be.

I'm contemplating getting a PowerCommander for it to run it with baffles out, and removing the bellypan.

Versys are amazing looking bikes and everything I've read about them is positive.

Unfortunately they're about £1,000 over my budget at the moment - enjoy the ride guys, and let me know if you're thinking of selling (I've got £2,000 burning a hole in my pocket...)

The only other one I've seen on the road since I bought it was in Chiswick, as I sat down to dinner with Little Miss 5 minutes after parking up. It was identical to mine, I nearly ran up the road after it!

I've never been too stressed about exhausts, and I think the stock one looks better than most of the after-market items anyway. Most of them sound a little noisy for my rather staid tastes! Plus I frequently get TraffPol's parking their big Beemers next to me, so I need to make sure it looks as legal as possible!

I took it for a mini tour in Wales and the Midlands this week, and loved every second of it. Weighed down with 150kg of me/panniers it still happily chucked itself about on dodgy mountain roads despite my inexperience and cowardice.

Slightly off topic. Are those MRA screens (with the spoiler Wink ) any good?

I find the lip buffets me around the head so I've removed mine but looking for one without the lip so I dont have the unsightly 4 holes in the screen.

Do like those a lot.

Do you reckon it would be hard to bring the forks up and fit a flat bar, so its a tad more aggressive Thinking

I thought about the flat bar, but not so sure it would look right with the front end of the Versys. I'm kinda running out of things to do to the bike now apart from ride it. I have considered a PCIII to run the exhaust baffleless (Mega loud) and add a set of panniers as they do look good when travelling..

I can see the appeal of these bikes and have considered stepping down to one myself.
I also agree its good looking in an ugly sort of way. Laughing

Only bad thing is I rode a ER-6F for a couple of months in the past and the engine was so bland.
Very smooth but too smooth really.

The V has similar power to the ER6 but delivers it differently. Theres definitely more shove at the bottom end. Incidentally Kawasaki released pictures of their 2010 Versys today

i quite like the look of them as well, but ive always been the off/on road inclined.. surprisingly its the only bike ive seen in green that i thought looked good, (im a black bike man)

my only criticism is the fact that the exhaust runs under the bike.
i'd have that smashed in no time flat, other than that she looks to be a good alrounder Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

They're not designed to go off-road, the designers just made it look like it might be able to!

Definitely meant to be road bikes rather than go running on dirt. I've got speed bumps galore near me and haven't managed to prang the exhaust yet so you should be fine as long as you don't go rock-climbing with it!
