RESTRICTING CBR 400 - shall i do it????

Right, i've had my cbr for a couple of weeks now, i've ridden it around a bit with it kicking out full power but i've now got the restrictor kit, any ideas of how much it's going to effect the acceleration & speed?

Also, if i dont get it fitted or do but i choose to take the restrictor out again, what are the penalties etc if i were to get caught? Recently passed my A2

Not too sure about the consequences of being caught. A friend of mine has a Bandit 600 and had it restricted, said there wasn't a huge amount of difference in the rate of acceleration but the top end was cut significantly.

I have a gixxer6 restricted, its still quick..restrction really dims your top end by a huge amount, mine tops out at about 105mph (not that id know officer).

Consequences of riding without restriction?..getting your bike crushed (worse case). Why even risk it?

The bike shop i'm getting the kit from are charging £170 which to me, sounds quite a bit for a few seals or whatever it is that is used. However it does come with a certificate, but do i need to get a certificate or could i just go second hand and get a cheaper kit with no certificate?

Yeah i think i might put it in if thats the case, didn't think about it that way.
I just hate the thought of handing over £170 for a few washers but i suppose every person who passes A2 has too do it!

No police officer is going to care about your restriction unless you bring attention to yourself.

I would say no, leave it out or your bike will have no guts you will be disappointed.

If you are going to restrict do not pay 170 squids for it!

Paid 25 quid for mine from someone off here and I uhh, put them in immediately and they have remained in ever since.

Yeh, don't bother with FI International's silly prices for restriction. The certificate doesn't prove anything as you could have taken the restrictor kit out after. If the rozzers are really bothered they'll dyno your bike regardless of any pieces of paper you wave at them. Though chances they'll not look into it anyway unless you're riding like an idiot or in a serious accident.

Best bet is buy someone's old second hand restrictor kit, or find out how your bike is restricted and do it yourself, usually only a few washers or something simple like that.
