I'm starting to really get into dnb, but I'm very much a noob in this genre as it's VERY different from gabber which is what I usually listen to. I know there are different styles, but I have no idea how to tell what is what.
Here are a few tracks I've enjoyed so far:

Netsky - Power of Sound
High Contrast - Everything's Different
Metrik - Anthem '09
Dizzee Rascal - Holiday (Nero Remix)
Cyantific - Empty Streets

These are all on youtube so if you don't mind take a look...

Can someone give me a bit of a crash course on dnb? Just explain the different types preferrably with examples.
Cheers

If you don't like it don't listen to it...
I don't like Britney and Usher and all the little sissy fags who sing whatever their manager tells them to get respect from 12 year olds Evil or Very Mad
Where I'm coming from the music I listen to is associated with chavs, hooligans and skinheads. I've gone to clubs where they play that music and been scared shitless. It doesn't mean I'm like them, I just like the music. Each to their own

As you've said there are lots of different types, "Jungle" is the chav stuff but if your on something or drunk then it sounds good Laughing .

Im mainly into Liquid DnB, it's hard to explain the genre but it ranges from chill out mixes up to heavy bass pumping tunes. I'll post some vids up anyway:

Adele - Hometown Glory (High Contrast Remix)

Lazee Feat Neverstore - Hold On (Matrix & Futurebound's Terrace Tantrum Mix)

Stan SB - Tears in rain

Sigur Rós - Sæglópur (Deep Focus Remix)

Mistabishi - No Matter What

Mistabishi - She Lied

HTH

Thumbs Up

I am Drum and Bass, ill keep it brief.

This is what you need.

https://www.dnbshare.com/

Jungle
- began a long long time ago. Deep basslines often ragga style lyrics, over amen breaks and hard beats.
I know a lot of things you can try but you're after this sort of sound.
One of my fav's with a quote from Predator in there Wink

Bay B Kane - Jungle Warriors 95'
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjQZxMoF8Kc

And probably the most famous DNB tune other than inner city life by Goldie. BAD!!!!

M-Beat feat General Levy Incredible
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mL2Bgj-za5k

Tech step
- this came later in the 90's beats got very techy and brought me into DNB fully. If you like tech, computers and such like you'll love the sounds of the tech step.
You're looking for Dom & roland, stakka and skynet, Friction, Teebee, Ed Rush & Optical, Bad Company.....
Try and grab 'Inside the Machine' by Bad company. Cool Thumbs Up
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sz76AWU0tHE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bi3HxUkFOT0

Jump up
- Came a little after jungle, its a marmite genre.
Mickey finn, Aphrodite, Urban takeover label. You'll get the feel when you start searching. Dont get it mixed up with the latest installement of jump up, it aint the same.
The first wibbly wobbly basslines that make you wanna dance.haha. here's a BIG classic.
LUNIZ - I GOT 5 ON IT (URBAN TAKEOVER RADIO REMIX)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TKU9COAUYY

Ok so now the Jump up and the tech have gone their separate ways now for the new crisper sounding beats of the milleninium. lol spelling...

Jump up you got TC, Bassraider, Dillinja, Taxman, Clipz, Hype, Mickey finn, bassline smith, twisted individual.
As you may have seen twisted individuals tunes have become famous on the Church DNB videos you've seen on the internet.
Loads of jump up nowadays. A bit chavy for me but hey, its what you make it.
Twisted Individual - Pull my finger
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSZLkJvAJlE

TC - Where's My Money
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKzymtAVBqg

Deeper stuff you'll find from Shogun Audio label. Spectrasoul, iccicle, Friction etc...

Shogun Audio (Icicle) - Minus
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixlN7gyXAgk

Theres a start....if you want more detail ill gladly make another post.

Peace! Karma Thumbs Up

Commix, Calibre, Nu:Tone to name a few more

If you like liquid, which imo is the ONE.

Then check out the hospitality mix, Vol 5.

I'm a big DNB fan also. My mum bought me my first DNB album. After harassing her for a whole year! It was Drum & Bass Arena! I had no clue what or who was on it.

I just copied it all to the computer, sent it over to the Ipod and away I went!

I'm a big fan of High Contrast, Ed-Rush, Optical, Shy FX, Andy C, Adam F, DJ Krust, Dillinja etc.

Also loving Ben Sage, And all the subsonic VIP mixes!

All I mix is dnb so yeah I am a big fan.

https://www.youtube.com/user/UKFDrumandBass

Good channel on youtube, only 40 odd songs on there atm but more added quite often.

https://www.youtube.com/user/UKFDubstep

Good dubstep channel if you like abit of that aswell some cracking remixes on there. Thumbs Up

I couldn't even start to list all the good DJs in dnb because there's so many, I would suggest if you want to get into dnb is start buying/downloading the drum and bass arena albums.

Calm down dear, its jost an opinion. Laughing
I used to like a bit of D'n'B but now its just bland and boring, then again i go through alot of stages in musical prefrence. Currently listening to alot of Biggie smalls. Need to find some more tbh.
