Ok so i bought a 1gu carb for my rd125lc and had the cylinder rebored and new piston and rings.

Sorted the powervalve and it it running awesome. Low end and powerband its real nice. The bike runs smooth through the gears the power is constant. (Before with the valve pinned open it ran like dog shit then suddenly WOOSH when it hit high enough revs.)

It is all set up how it states in the manual. I did a plug chop and its a lovely tanned brown colour.

So i have done about 80 miles slow-ish on it so far so i thought i should open it up a bit.

Now when you hit about 6k rpm it starts getting noisy. Tic Tic Tic or Click Click kind of noisy.

Its a little louder than it was before on tick over but nothing major.

Any ideas what it may be ?

It also gets noisy if revved passed 6k ish while in neutral.

Thanks
Truzo.

Ok so today i had the cylinder off again searching for a cause the the noise.

The Person who bored it out forgot to chamfer two of th ports !

I was told it had been done along with the bore. And this is an official yamaha dealer !

New gasket tomorrow, so i will reassemble and let you all know.

Truzo.

Good luck with that mate Thumbs Up . The stupidity at main dealers never surprises me any more Mr. Green .

Ok so i chamfered the two of ports in question and went over them all to be on the safe side. I also got some really fine wet n dry with 2 stroke oil on and went around the hole cylinder a bit.

Now its about 90% Less noisy than it was before so that is a plus !

There is still some noise at very high revs like 10k + however it's not as loud as it was before so im not fussed about that.

I would say the lesson of this story is: Do not trust anyone with your bike or parts even if its a reputable dealer !

Thanks
Truzo.
