Hi again all. Suzuki GSX750W inazuma.

Right bit of history now, about 1200 miles ago the oil cooler where the L/H pipe from the sump bolts on a drip appeared around the join and dripped off the front bolt onto the downpipe. Having had this before on my K 1200, I replaced the ‘o’ ring cleaned up and gave a spray with PJ case paint, job done I thought.

Last week the drip appeared again and today (doing a Bikesafe run) only this time after about 20miles it was a steady trickle with a nice plume of burning oil smoke whenever we stopped, by the time I got home about 80 miles total, oil was everywhere and I had to top up by a ¼ ltr..

Now what I have is a hairline crack in the top casing PIC 1. So my question is there any glue/gum/araldite/superglue/chemical that anyone knows of that I can smear into the crack that will actually last. PIC 2 is within 20 seconds of starting engine. My best guess now is that the ‘o’ring hadn’t gone and it was only the repaint that stopped the leak, until the paint broke away today. The good bit is it only leaks when engine is on.

A used rad for this bike is as rare as rocking horse poo. (its amazing what you can seee in pic that I can't see with a magnifying glass).

clear the paint and the oil away from around the crack down to bare metal and braze over the crack with a low temp rod and a map gas blow torch.

Missed the extra"P" off

Welding and brazing are different, a simple aluminum job like that is fine for just brazing.

That is par for the course for those oil coolers and the reason why used Bandit coolers are so hard to find and so much money when you do.

FYI most chemical metals like JB weld are completely oil resistant but only once fully cured. You'd have to remove the cooler and thoroughly de-grease the area before applying. Trouble is that coolers suffer large temperature variations so any such repair will invariably fail after a time.

So Iv'e noticed, my bikes cooler is midway in size between the 600 and 1200 banidt. Managed to find a place in Hornsey that makes 600 ones for £69 pounds new, as a last resort.

A friend told me about a product from a firm called Starloc so will try this initially, even if it only lasts a couple of thousand miles that will get me thru to March.

Oh dear. the crack goes thru to the thread see pic, beyond brazing I've been told by the pro who was going to do it.

However I can get a 600 cooler from here
https://www.aaronradiator.co.uk/pages/motorcycle.html
but is is a little bit smaller than my one. Does anyone know how much this might effect the cooling

Also look at GSXR750 F to M coolers and GSXR 1100G-N coolers, as one of those may do the job.

Different styles, but thanks, I don't fancy trying to do mods to get to fit.

The 600 will fit just concerned about the possible reduced cooling. I can't see it would make much difference except in a heatwave. On my k2 1200 I used to cover front of the cooler with tin foil from November to March with no probs.

I suspect you will be fine with the 600s cooler-the inazuma is a bit detuned from the GSXR750.

I guess it should be OK, the GSXR750 has a huge cooler. AAron radiators will be getting back to me next week.

In meantime anyone have the sizes of the 600 bandit cooler. Only one bike I know of in my area, and guy got stroppy when I asked if I could measure it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Height will be more crucial I reckon cos of where the bottom support lugs are. Mine 280mm wide/160 high excluding the bolt on ally side covers (not shown in pic).

cheers all

I ran a bandit 6 with a GSXR750 engine for about 3000 miles using the standard 6 cooler. My mate ran it for 2 years before i bought it and there were never any overheating issues. I dont have the bike anymore though so i cant help with sizes.
Thanks

Thanks. the GSXR750 had a huge cooler, due to fairing I guess, so I'll see what Aron Rads can do price wise, cheers.
