Technically, I'd say the RS125 or Mito are the best 125's on that list. That doesn't mean I'd ever want one though, or even remotely like them. Razz

The DKW RT125.

First made in 1926. An air cooled 2-stroke single.

The forefather of almost every 2-stroke on the planet. The basic design of this bike has been used by (that I am aware of):

MZ, Cossack, Ural, planeta, kalashnikov, minsk, BMW, motobeno, motobelo, moto morini, BSA, Ariel, Ducati, CZ, Jawa, Voskhod.

Latterly the East German designers from the MZ factory defected to Japan, they invented and perfected the expansion chamber exhaust system, port timing and most of the Japanese manufacturers brought out some version of the RT125. Noteably yamaha and suzuki who then improved on it leading to what you find today.

If it was not for this bike and the people who built it, there would be no Japanese motorcycle industry. The first 'universal' motorbike.

Aaaw come on guys don’t kill the thread, you know where it leads!

I can’t believe some people voted RS and Mito overall.
If you’re talking about all aspects then it has to be Jap, the thing is the guy who started the thread hasn’t listed all the good ones.
The DTR is a good all rounder as long as you don’t tune it to the bollox.
TZR was a good bike, until the new one.

Whats a Sach XCT 125? I know theres a Sachs XTC but not a Sachs XCT. Also, you forgot to mention the RD125LC, as this was and still is quite a good sports bike. Very sought after now and restored examples have been known to fetch upto £1500. IMO though, the Mito is my favourite, followed by the Suzuki RG125 Fun.

Although I was going to say RS125 first of all, I'd have to say on this occassion that its the CG125 for me. Why? Its cheap as hell to run, is a good commuter and is pretty much bombproof. Therefore is prob. more 'usable' than the RS 125.

It all depends with this one, on the wallet.
Most kids at 16-17 can’t get the dream bike, for me the yammy DTR is one of the best bike for all round use and stuff.
