Big bore kits??

can you get big bore kits for the nsr 125? if so what sort of price will i be lookin at for one?
can i get a bigger carb too and again how much?
got any good web site for these??

32 or 34 mm carb. One off an old RS or mito.

you can get them i think but for the price its going to cost you and the problems it will cause you may as well just buy a bigger bike.

Ye get a polini 175 or malossi 180, if i had the choice again i wouldn't buy it though. Looking at a minimum of 500 quid for bore kit, plus you need jetting, get a bigger bike would be your best option.

Not worth the money. On top of that £500 you need to budget for all the rebuilds after the bike blows up weekly

i no but the insurance on my 125 is high so is i had a 250 it'd be higher still. whats involved i puttin the 250 engine in?
i mean will it bolt into the same mounting points and be the wiring loom and chain pitch?

but if you put a 250 engine in a 125 frame you will have a 250.

There's not much point in even insuring the bike if you're gonna completely change the engine and running gear in it. (Unless you declare it of course). Also, unless you have a licence (and a full one at that), you won't even be legally entitled to ride it.

It's really not worth it mate.
There is no point trying to insure an NSR125 and stick a 250 engine in it because, you insurance will be invalid by the fact you've lied (a lot) about your bike. Also you will spend a lot of time and money trying to install the engine and it will probably not work very well in a 125 size bike, you would have to change things like the brakes etc....
If you still want to do it, go buy a working NSR250 and just ride that, it's just as illegal as installing a 250 engine into a 125 but it's a damn site cheaper.

The 125 is a single cylinder, 250 is a twin in various shapes and forms depending which model. I.e, the 250 is a larger engine so it wouldnt fit in length or width ways.

The mounting points arnt much of a problem as you can just make some up.

250 has two pipes. Ever tried making an expansion chamber from scratch? Hard enough with cardbord, let alone sheet metal.

The electrics from a 250 would have to be fitted.

A rad from a 250 would have to be fitted.

Even if you could fit two carbs in you would run out of petrol in half the time.

The brakes on a 125 wouldnt cope.

The suspension wouldnt cope.

You would have to buy most of a 250 anyway to get all the parts needed.

If you REALLY want a larger engine, use a rd or a single cylinder 2t motorcross engine.

Way too much hassel.

BUT, it could be cool.

There are the odd few conversions on ebay. I.e mito with cr250/500 engines.

Yeah way too much hassle, but i reckon that the best motor that you could potentially fit into an NSR frame would be a CRM250 motor. Its got plenty of poke, and has the benifits of autolube injection, as well as loads of nice midrange torque, without putting too much extra strain on the chassis, (probably)! NSR250 motor aint never gonna fit the 125, its too different in layout.

ok lads thanks for your help. me and my mate who's actually got the nsr have decided that he's sellin up and buyin a aprillia RX 125 cos he moto x style now! and i think i'm gunna buy a cagiva mito 125.
