The engine rebuild had to go on hold as a burst water main flooded our cellar and i had to spend time digging holes and filling em up again Crying or Very sad .
So the engine has been lying on the bench in bits. Which is great for my swiss cheese memory, the longer I leave things the more chance that bits go missing or forgoten how they go back together. Confused
However I managed to get back to it yesterday and got most of the engine rebuilt apart for the head. as I am now pondering about the O-rings (mentioned previously). Neutral

Now the thin ones sit down in the recess but dont touch the gasket not sealing the power valve guide. But do the valves rise when exhaust gasses pass through?

The thick ones might be a better seal and are just nealy flush but slightly proud of the cylinder top, but will they prevent the valves from turning when the head is torqued down? Or is there enough force from the mechanism to activate them.

I am going with the thicker ones and move the kips back and forth by hand to see. Jeez writing this out I have answerd my own question.

here is the engine at the moment.

I would use the thick o rings. The power valves are driven by that centrifugal spinning thing that pushes that rod thing. I should think that there would be a fair bit of force on it.
