I seek the wise counsel of the mechanically minded sages of BCF.

creeping over!

could do with a bit of help got a problem with my scooter, its a SONIK SKYJET YH125T 4 storke and has done about 5000 miles. I'll wait for you to finish laughing, as you can guess it is chinese, but the problem I'm having is that the electrics seem to be short on sparking the engine to life, I've tried new spark plug, new coil, new c.d.i. unit and checked all the wiring there is life in the electrics but it won't start the engine, I have been told that it may be the generator but I am hoping for a less costly cause to the problem, any suggestions of anything else I may need to check or change please?

Have you checked the battery? It should give out 12V on its own, might also need topping up with distilled water if it's of that type.

Posting in the workshop section would help there then...... Laughing

So does the starter crank the engine over, but it wont start ?

What does the battery read engine not running and then with it running.

Could be a fueling issue as easy as a eletrical one.
