The best you can do is explain, if she's not having any of it. Let her go ahead and do it, or advise her to test at low speeds before attempting anything stupid.

If the hill is as steep as your making it, I'm sure she is in for one hell of a ride, and if you can do it at 150 mph (where at 90 mph the back tire comes off the ground), she has 60 mph to play around with, to see how far she wants to go (I don't know the speed of a derestricted hornet, so I'm guessing here)

But I personally wouldn't hold her back, taking into account the 90 mph off the ground, to your 150 mph run! Not saying your lying, but that says it can be done at high speed, whether her roads are different or not! (If she's prepared to travel 170 mile, I'm sure she's seen her fair share of road surfaces) Very Happy

Where is this hill?

Take her down Somerby Cuttings first, then when she's a wobbling nervous wreck, take her to your hill. Cool

Must be a really big hill for a Hyosung GT650 to hit 150 mph. Thumbs Up

Where are these hills? I love going UP hills like these. Is it a short 100m thing or a good 2-3 miles?

Just try persuading her not to do it. If she doesn't listen to you then theres really not much you can do.

I believe it's meant to top out at 130ish.

Same engine as SV650, which apparently tops out at 124-125 (real) mph not speedo reading. Can't see Hyosung gaining another 25mph even if it has slightly better aerodynamics (which I doubt). Wink

Out of interest, I wonder what the terminal velocity of a GT650R would be if you dropped it out of a plane? Probably not much more than 150mph I reckon Thinking

In fairness, it is a slightly retuned version of the same engine: Hyosung has it because the engine's designer felt it was being constrained by Suzuki, and wanted to do more with it, thus jumping ship.
Or so I'm told.

Ghost run it.

Challenge her to a race down it with the engine off.

I love doing ghost runs on stuipd hill passes and it teaches you a lot about how the braking and speed affects cornering. The best bit is when you overtake people with no engine on.

I managed to pass two cars and a car towing a caravan (which shouldn't have even been there, they are banned off that road) all at oncer as I was ghosting down Sutton Bank a few weeks back.

It really confuses them because you are totally silent as you go past.

By not racing her or meeting her there? Rolling Eyes

I think any Hyosung would start to disintegrate above 130mph...

It's not like she's about to climb Mount Everest...

Hi

The Sutton Bank Stinkwheel mentioned Shocked .Didn't realise there were any roads in the UK that are that steep.

Apparently an even steep road in Wales but not meant to be used by motor vehicles.

All the best

Keith

It's the main road between the A1 and Scarborough. It get closed upwards of 150 times a year because peoples vehicles aren't up to the task of going up it. Caravans are banned.

I'd say Hardknott and Wrynose Passes are steeper but you can't overtake on them (C-class road). My GPZ500 bottomed out on the switchbacks. If you stop on it in a rear wheel drive car, there is a good chance you won't get enough traction to get going again. I've seen a few vehicles sitting there with their wheels spinning before having to reverse back down a bit for another run at it.

I haven't dared ghost run them, I'd cook the brakes.
