I am looking to get a bike possibly at the weekend on Sunday, however the bike in question is a good day away from where i am.

However the bike has the MOT but no Roadtax.

So a visit to the post office is required, but as the person that is selling it has no insurance he cant get it and as the day I was looking to pick it up is on a Sunday no post offices open.

So any suggestions on what I can do before I take time off work and go on a week day (Which i want to avoid as the roads will be quiet).

My only solution would for me to get insurance then forward my cover note onto the seller for him to get it.

Would this be viable at all?

Thanks for any help

How about getting him to send you the MOT, then you can do it yourself. Or do it online, you should be ok to ride without a tax disc as long as you can prove you have the tax. I doubt you'll get caught anyway

do it online, then if you do get pulled, you still have tax and they allow you upto 5 days from ordering to having to display it.

Just remember that ins will most likely not update for a few days. So don't bank on getting ins for sunday and then being able to tax online at the same time as your insurance.

So if I get insurance tomorrow then that would give it enough time to do it online then?

If you buy tax online then it'll be posted to the current registered keeper so you don't want to do that until you've had the V5 through the post with you listed as the registered keeper.

Just sort it next week.
