I just sold my Yamaha TW125 for the simple reason of getting a faster, further tank range and something that can take on a long run.

I have my mind set of a 2003 HONDA XL 125 V-3 Varadero.

What I have been told is that this can run at 60mph national speed limit no problems even if there is a wind, as the closest Dial carriageway / motorway is over 160 miles away this is all I am worrying about.

So short of it all will this put up to 60mpg with no issues and stay there and give a little bit more for overtaking or am i asking too much?

Also the one i am looking at is over 300 miles away is this realistic to drive this back and for info only Dual carriageway and A roads will be all i am going on.

Tim

I have a CG which achieves 88mpg average for me, and yes it can do up to 70mph down a hill, 55 up a hill in the wind but the Varadero has a couple more hp so a much punchier engine.

As such it will certainly do 60 in the wind! My friend has a Varadero and he caught up and rode past me once on the dual carriageway while I was flat out, he was going at least 10mph faster. Google says 2003's tank capacity at 17.5l, later models 16.5l, mpg will still be very good (as with most 4 stroke 125). The tank range on my CG is 15l capacity so about 250 miles with some quick maths.

Where the hell are you to be 160 miles from a Dual Carriage way?

I have the exact same bike, it will sit on 65 all day quite happily, will do 70 ok, had 74 ish from mine but that was on a calm day. Its a very comfortable bike with a big presence for a 125, very easy to ride and handles well with decent rubber, trailwings fitted as standard are generaly nicknamed death wings amongst a lot of riders as its felt they have poor grip, especialy in the wet. I changed mine for bridgestone BT45 Battlax tyres, Very happy with mine.

Don't pay ridiculous money to a 1-2-5.
Do your test as said.

Well buy a £500 CG, that will hold its value better than any tarty newish 125.
