Its getting on towards new tyre time.

Now avon 45/46s are 150 a pair from motorbike-tyres.com and 020s are 170 a pair in my sizes.

Anyone ever tried avon 45/46s? Any good?

DON'T GET AVONS!!!
They can't be repaired and are generally pretty crap.
Stick with the decent makes matey. 020's a re pretty damn good and a few have recommended D207's

Hi

Used Avons a few time. Had the on the FZ, and also had them on the Bandit, and another set are fitted to the Bandit at the moment. No complaints about them at all really.

Can see no legitimate reason for them not to be repaired. Maybe Avon say not to, but then no tyre maker is happy about people repairing high speed rated tyres. Also I think Avon have a warrenty / insurance that they will replace a punctured tyre under some circumstances.

All the best

Keith

Getting them repaired isn't high on my list of priorities, i just want some tyres that work and last ok.

Are they ok in the wet? and is it 45/46s you've got or some other model?

Yeah, wait until you get a puncture and can't afford to buy a new back tyre Razz

Hi

Not tried non radial Avons, but an Avon used to be THE tyre for racing on the 600's when they had narrow wheels and thus ran cross plies.

As to repairs, I don't really think this is going to be any more of an issue than with most other makes of tyre

All the best

Keith

But Avon were one of the only one's not to complain when the Z rating came out. There's an article somewhere where most of the major tyre manufacturers stated that their tryres could be repaired, when the powers that be said all Z rated tyres couldn;t be. So you can blag a tyre place to fick an 020 or 207 but not a bloadyt Avon (Only bitter cuz I have them and also have a punture Sad )

Hi

On their web site they only state that the tubeless only tyres cannot be repaired

All the best

Just bought D207s for my bike, used to have 020s.

207s feel really good, more grip than the 020s and they were cheaper!

Not sure.

I'm also having a look at cheaper tyres now, seeing as i just need life from them. Continental have a few cheap tyres, so i might just go for whatevers cheap off mandp.
