I run my bike on methanol rather than petrol. You get more bang as it runs at higher compression ratios it also runs cooler.
Apart from the problems of extra cost, its ability to absorb water from the air and the fact that Customs and Excise Demand their cut but do not get any from me the major downside is the fact it burns with an invisible flame.
Petrol burns a nice yellow and it is obvious that you are on fire, with methanol you see nothing except a rider thrashing about for no apparent reason. I met a guy earlier this year that had a barrel of dope (methanol) with him that was blue rather than clear, he said it was an additive that does not alter the octane rating but gives the flame a blue colour. Stupidly I never found out what this additive was called and can not find it by Google.
Any ideas?

Where can a man purchase a nice big barrel of methanol Ariel??

Quite a handy thing to have around, as long as you don't mind a bit of blindness....

Aparently the antidote/damage reducer is ethanol. So if you drink methanol get on the piss, quickly!!

Where else but ebay.
Ethanol is not an antidote to methanol but if you are used to drinking it it will give you a resistance to the worst effects (death) of its big brother.

Just out of pure geeky interest, would sticking some of this in a bike with a knocksensor make much difference?

https://www.aaoil.co.uk/racing-Sunoco-GT-PLUS

Or would you need to do loads of remapping and whatnot?

Just wondered if it'd be noticable for a bit of a laugh?

Nock sensors usually retard the ignition from the standard setting, they don't advance it.

Hi

As above, and even if it did have the capacity to significiently advance the timing the power difference would probably not be massive.

If it had a turbo and the ability to increase boost based on the knock sensor then probably you would get a load more power.

All the best

Keith
