whos doing the Wootton Bassett ride for Afghan Heroes on the 14th march? what are you riding and where are you traveling from? 160miles each way on an 600 srad, should be fun. looks to be a great turn out at over 10,000 bikes.

I'm going to be heading down from London. Is anyone else from London coming? Maybe we could head together?

Did you also weep and line the street for The Peoples' Princess and Saint Jade the Porcine?

Doesn't matter if they did or not.
Doing something that they want to do, to pay respect.
Every right to do that, nothing wrong with it.

Just as you've the right to be an arsy bastard with little or no regards for others.

Think of it as a karma thing! Rolling Eyes

FWIW some info on the ride if you click here.
Says there that registration for the event closed at 10,000 riders.
However, whilst they can't stop you using the roads/route if not registered advise you don't just turn up.

Then donate the petrol/wristband/etc costs direct to the RBL, ABF, or SSAFA without all this "Look at me! Look how much I care!" mawkish attention whoring.

I hope you've all registered?

If not then you won't be allowed to attend, simple.

I'm a little confused as to why we "need" another charity as I thought the Haig fund (aka Poppy appeal) as administered by the Royal British Legion took care of the service-folk and their families.

Is the RBL not meeting the needs in the 21st century?

You could still go, but some people wouldn't be happy about it.

An announcement… and at last it’s great news!

All the agencies (Police, MOD & Local Authorities) have come together to make the Mother’s day ride through Wootton Bassett possible.

The ride will now start within the Hullavington Airfield nr Buckley army barracks (A429) and all of the 10331 registered riders will pass through Wootton Bassett before dispersing. All registered riders will soon receive (by email) full instructions/documentation of the route, arrival / leaving times, a proof of registration and the method by which we are going to get this many riders through a small Wiltshire village safely and without causing total gridlock.

We absolutely understand how difficult it must be for those that missed registration however must ask non-registered riders NOT TO ATTEND; As this poses a major threat to fellow bikers who would be at very high risk if left stationary on the M4 motorway as a result of any of the local junctions becoming blocked.

We must stress that ONLY REGISTERED RIDERS will be able to go on the organised ride.

They can't stop you riding on public roads.

Whoops I'm not registered. It looks like it will be awesome. I'd really like to go and i'm more than happy to make a donation to their fund also.

I think I might have to take a ride though Wootton Bassett on that day. Hope I don't get caught up in the bike ride. . .

Anyone else fancy a ride out?
