Only worn this for two seasons on the track and I think the strap has had it. Double D ring type.
Your opinions please.

I wouldn't use the helmet personally. The strap material has a terrible habit of breaking when its a tiny bit frayed.

If it was my helmet, I'd use it, if it was the wife's helmet, I'd buy her another.

If your going for a new lid, Hein Gericke have got some deals on helmets at the moment, clearing old stock. There's some pretty good deals...

I'm a bit miffed that you can get a £324 Arai Chaser for (like my old silver camo one) for £99 according, to the HG website! Evil or Very Mad

Thanks guys, you confirmed what I thought.
I think it is safe but if a race scruteneer sees it he will not pass it as fit.
Hein Gericke it is then!

My helmet did that. I just used a lighter to melt the frayed part so it would fray no more.

+1 to lighter.
It is looking good, just melt it a bit and save hundreds.
Also, your new lid won't be as comfy as this one.

Basic helmet but compared to the vemar it will be 500 times better quality and features, like a visor system thats not made of lego and a shell thats not made of re processed goats milk, a visor that can fit a pinlock to and genuinely be fog free, and if the chin strap gets fubard it will be replaced for free at a service too. Thumbs Up No brainer personally especially at those prices.

The visor mechanism sucks, the lid is heavy and noisy as hell at decent speed but it is like putting your head in a duvet. Shoei visors, weight (lack of) and noise win hands down but the lining of an Arai is luvverly.

I use a Shoei X-Spirit in summer but I revert to my old Arai Quantum f in winter because it's warmer.

Cheers

Grim

Big Ham pointed out that as I hold an ACU licence I can get discounts from some suppliers.

Aye, it's rather good discount scheme. Shame I don't have an Arai shaped head. I went to a shop and tried them all on, but all of their shells cut into my forehead big time. Sad
