What a bunch of tossers.

01753 590510 - motorcycle support number

Me: Hi, looking for some info on my bike. Its an NSR125, and I would like some information on how to derestrict it. Problem is, its a French import - I would call them but I dont speak french.

Woman: Ok no problem i'll see if I can find out for you.

<gay hold music>

Woman: I have just found out that these cannot be derestricted.

Me: What, just the French ones or all NSR125's??

Woman: All. They cannot be de-restricted, they are designed like that.

Me: Well can you ask somebody else please, as I know for definate the UK, german and Italian ones can be de-restricted... I have spoken to at least 10-15 people who have them fully de-restricted. The UK ones have a ring in the exhaust and a plate on the intake manifold.

Woman: Sorry sir but these bikes cannot be de-restricted.

Me: They can, even my local honda dealer (coburn and hughes) told me they can, they were just unsure of how the French ones are restricted....

Woman: They may have got their wires crossed and been thinking of another bike.

Me: The mechanic was stood infront of my bike at the time having a quick look for restrictors - he knew his stuff, he even told me of the UK ones he had de-restricted before.

Woman: I'm sorry sir we are unable to help you.

They've all been shagged harder than a flock welsh sheep. In total I think I went to look at about 9 NSR's.... the import was the only one which had a service history, tread on the tyres, no scuffs and botched fairings etc Sad

Why didn't you get a C90 or something and waited til you got a decent bike, wish i did Sad .

£2500, but for that I got the bike (can't remember how much it was on its own?) 2 years parts & labour warranty, 2 years breakdown cover with puncture & fuel cover, and a meta 357 alarm system. Maybe I did pay a little over the odds, but the way I saw it was that at least I know it hadn't been ragged by some little soon-to-be nova driver - the bike had been looked after properly.

Cause C90's look like something that jesus used to ride back in 100A.D or something Very Happy

I wanted to get a bigger bike straight away, but having 9 points on my license and living in a high risk area, insurance on a big bike takes the piss.
My plan is to keep the NSR for 1 year from the day I bought it, by then my 9 points come off (they're invalid after 3 years but stay on license for 4) and I can trade the NSR back in and pay the extra for a GSXR600.

arghhh for 2K you could have had my mates NSR (UK spec - 100mph) which is *phucking immaculate* and still has a few months of warranty on it - plus new tyres Very Happy

That does look like a nice bike Smile although 2k.... for an extra £500 I got all that warranty / breakdown shite, and that bike does have 10,000 more miles on it than mine!

I will de-restrict it.....i'm determined!!! Razz

Get a racing CDI from BDK Race engineering, my mate got one for his RS and he says its more responsive.

I have a mate staying wih me at the moment who is french who could translate that site for you if you like?

I'll have to ask him nicely though. And i can't garantee that it will help you de restrict the bike.

Seriously tho, I would be very grateful If he would have a really quick look through THIS forum and see if he could decypher anything about de-restricting (debridage I think is the french word), especially THIS thread, where some guy seems to be talking about the fact that honda de-restricted for him, and how they done it?

I dont know what, but he or you need a favour in return just let me know!

You also need to change your sprockets for ones that have more teeth.

Also , undo the top of the throttle slide and pull the throttle slide out, on the spring there should be 3 washers which will fall out in your hand as you pull it out

Good man! Cheers for that, i'll have to look for the washers asap as that is a fairly simple thing to do (I think / hope). I was aware of the ring in the exhaust - I need to get that done.
