I'm planning a 4 day trip to northern ireland next year. not set a date yet but it will be fri/sat/sun/mon. We will be arriving in larne by ferry and we want to do the coastal route to port rush. I was wondering if anyone had any idea's for places to visit/stay/drink.

This will be my first tour albeit only 4 days in N/I.

any advice and tips would be greatfully recieved!

Hi Crumley, the best advise I can give you is to plan your trip to coincide with the North West 200 road races, they’re second only to the TT on the road racing events calendar, I‘ve been going there for the last 9 years, I guarantee you won’t be disappointed, there’s not many places you can view racing a pavements width away from the bikes as they go by at over 150mph (one year Michael Rutter did 201mph).

The whole weekend as a party atmosphere, there’s great roads in the area and the A2 coast road from Larne to Portrush is one of the best biking roads ever, on the way you’ll pass

Carrick a Rede rope bridge
Giants Causeway
Bushmills Brewery

Google n you tube em.

The night life ranges from pubs to hotels to nightclubs, tiz a good trip to do with the mrs or even better without. The actual date of the race is released around Christmas, but it’s usually the 2nd or 3rd weekend in May, the only down side is trying to arrange accommodation if you want to stay in Portrush or Portstewart, you’ll need to start arranging now as that’s where everyone wants to be.

When it comes to the ferry crossing I’d advise you to give Nutt Travel a ring they’re very competitive, their nº is 02870351199

If you want any more info just give us a shout, don’t know how familiar you are with the NW200 but can still be viewed on www.bbc.co.uk/nw200/
Happy North Westing Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
