All of the gear looks good.
The only think I would suggest is to get some warmer gloves. Although they're goretex ones, they don't look very warm to me? As a recommendation; I have just bought some Held Freezer Goretex glove and they're amazingly warm. I also hear the HG Pathan gloves are good. |

I have those boots and i like them alot! Super comfy and totaly dry feet in the worst of weathers. I also have a pair of HG gloves - not the same - and am liking them too.
my textiles are also HG but again, different stuff, not quite as expensive as the kit you are looking at. Jacket has been fine although stuff does get wet in the pockets - even the inside one - which is a PITA. Stitching is coming away from one of the rear pockets on my trousers but the good thing about the HG stuff is the gaurantee. So long as you keep the reciept then you just take it back and get new stuff when it breaks or leaks whatever.
I had my last pair boots (bullsons) about 9 months then one of the zip pulls snapped in half. Took them back in to HG and got £110, no quibbles off the price of a new set (the ones you are considering)! ____________________ Harold_Shand wrote: I suppose it's like anything, you get your fingers burned when you start out, you learn from it and eventually become a complete arsehole about the whole thing. |

I have that Jacket / Trousers combo. Very good I've found and (almost) totally waterproof. Only problem I've noticed is that in torrential rain I get a wet stomach where the zip only comes round about 80% which is a shame. May have helped if I'd tightened the cords on the jacket, but this really was terrible weather, so I'm not too fussed.
Not had to put the thermal linings back in yet as they are still toasty enough for now |

I really like the jacket, was looking at that one myself last time I was in HG
Still trying to work out how I can justify spending the $$$$'s to my wife though
I would go for proper winter gloves though, the Pathans are very good, I have a similar pair but they're not HG, keep your fingers quite warm in the really cold weather/wind. ____________________ ZX6R F3 |

Right gloves,
You must have 2 pairs of gloves if you're riding distance all year round.
Summer gloves will be to cold in winter and vice virca, all round gloves will be also too cold in winter.
These are the best gloves for keeping your hands warm.
https://www.hein-gericke.co.uk/shop/product_info.php/cPath/6_144/products_id/3688
I have a pair and ride all year round, this doesn't mean you hands will be toasty in deepest darkest winter you need heated grips and/or handgaurds/muffs for that.
Boots,
For that price you could get some SMX4 WP's mine where £130 at the Excell show 2 years ago. These are amazing boots had mine nearly 2 years still water proof never let a drop in. I have no experiance with the HG boots but my A*'s are brilliant I think the SMX5's are out now but they are dear. Make sure they are the WP model (Waterproof)
https://www.hein-gericke.co.uk/shop/product_info.php/cPath/3_140/products_id/3863
here they are on the gericke site shop about though they can be got for much cheaper.
Jacket, That jacket looks quite short cut to me this seems to be the style these days but personally I hate it, A long jacket is more comfotable and warmer IMO.

This gets a good write up or if you wanna stick with gericke kit.

Gericke Kit is very dear but you can usually be assured it is quality, personally I think it seems like alot of cash to spend on winter kit. If you go to a bike Show you could probably get kitted out for 60% of the total you would pay in Gericke, the NEC is in November.
Buy a polar buff too, HG should sell them.

Be warned on those boots: they're great and all, but the sole's soft as shite. Take them off as soon as you get off the bike, or they'll start to wear through in buggerall time flat. It doesn't help that I'm pretty heavy (about 16st 8lb), but while they're still usable, I've found myself preferring my para boots for longevity. ____________________ '10 SV650SF, '83 GS650GT (it lives!), Questionable DIY dash project, 3D Printer project, Lasercutter project |
