My Dad's been getting into his technology recently, and has been converting his old VHS tapes over to DVD. Last night he gave me a copy of 'All this and WW2', which is a film i've not seen for years, and had forgotten just how good it is.

For those of you who've not seen it, the film tells the story of WW2 by using old films, newsreels and actual footage, all backed by the music of the Beatles (covered by 'popular artists' like Tina Turner, Bee-Gees, Leo Sayer etc)

The songs are aptly chosen, for example the film opens to 'Magical Mystery Tour', later we see of footage of Hitler at his 'Eagle's nest' nr Berchtesgarten, the track playing is 'The fool on the hill', as the Japanese gear up for the attack on Pearl Harbour, scenes from Torra! Torra! Torra! play, backed by 'Sun King'.

If you've seen it, what did you think? If you've not seen it, and either a) like the Beatles, or b) have an interest in WW2 then i'd really recommend it.

There's some clips available on YouTube here.

Thumbs Up
