Coming home from work today - the first happened right in front of me. I pulled up at a light that had turned red, Fish Street Hill to turn left onto Lower Thames Street. Just as I stopped the lights on Lower Thames St went green and a bike that had obviously used the cycle lane to filter to the front must have almost got there when he got the green so kept the power on. Unfortunately for him the cab at the front, which had been sitting at the red light, turned left. The bike smashed into his left wing, rear wheel got about as high as the cab's windsceen and then down he came. He was wearing textiles with shoulder, elbow & kneee armour but I think he has a busted knee or leg. Bike (SV650) was badly bent a the front, wheel was pointing ahead with bars on full lock.
I gave first aid then a cop happened along on a zzr1400 followed by two ambulance crew who also happened along and then paramedics and city cops to attend.

Gave my statement then set off towards Tower Bridge, where there was another smash on the end of the Highway heading west at the Tower Bridge lights (near to where Yun had her accident I think), bike in the side of a silver car, fair bit of damage to the bike high up, looked quite nasty. No sign of the rider but cops had the lane closed off and looked to be waiting for accident investigation. Hope the guy was alright, his helmet was sat in the road so probably a good sign.

Bit of a bad day for a couple of people Sad

Am a little hesitant to filter along Lower Thames Road due to the volume of traffic and the shocking road conditions. I sear I need an off roader on that stretch. I know its not right, big or clever but I do use cycle lanes when traffic is sluggish.

I've used the cycle lane to filter many times, but at nearly half past six there isn't the traffic to justify it. A lot of cabs turn left to get up onto London Bridge, I've always been wary there and geld back from passing until after that turn.

I got nudged in the back today after a guy who was probably going too fast couldn't see me because of the sun.

Kept the bike up and no visible damage, gonna get it checked anyway. Did plenty of damage to the front of his car though. Laughing

This is a dangerous time of year during rush hour as the sun is low in the sky and dazzles everyone in their mirrors as well as in front of them. I noticed more haphazard lane changers than usual when I've been filtering lately. I found it very difficult to see bikes and cars in my mirrors. Be careful folks! And when the clocks go back, it means we have it all over again. Thumbs Down
