Just sorting through my iTunes and my internal Sub Woofer on my laptop has just semi-blown. Gone all crackly and very annoying. Does anybody know if this kind of problem can be easily fixed or will I have to follow the warranty route to get it mended.

So fucking annoying, I wasn't playing music that loud. For anyone thinking of getting an Acer because of their deals then I would suggest you avoid them like the plague. Mine has given me nothing but problems, if I didn't know how to sort my computer out then it would have cost me an absolute bomb with PC World prices.

Anyway rant over....

Stupid piece of shit laptop!! Sad

If it's still under warranty then it's a bit of a no brainer.

Yeah I guess, just don't want the Acer people seeing how much pirate software/movies/music there is on there.

Could do take the hard drive out and keep it somewhere safe? They shouldn't need that to fix the speakers...

I'd say no to the harddrive removal, they might get picky and say it voids your warranty messing around with it.

They shouldn't have to boot in to Windows to test it, you'd think they'd have a "diagnostic/test" cd of sorts. Password protect your windows logon etc or even the boot-up if you can still do that these days. Wink

They won't give a damn if you have pirated software on there, just make sure there's nothing illegal illegal. (Not insinuating anything, but you can never be too careful - did you know that certain types of BDSM porn are illegal now?)

You could always just back it all up and do a fresh install of Windows.

I used to work in a PC world when I was younger, actually in the technical department fixing pc's.. some of the guys DO go through stuff so I wouldn't advise keeping porn and stuff on there, music is normally not an issue, neither is having the program. did you know you can get adobe reader (free, legal!) via a torrent download, which requires a torrent program (e.g. utorrent, opera, transmission etc) to be used.

just cus you have the program doesn't mean you're using it illegally. it's shareware, so you can't be told off for having free software.

but, as TheBassJunky said:

easiest way, to do a hardware fix they shouldn't need to really turn it on and mess about with the software/programs etc. only to check the sound works (they do that normally by going into the sound options to check the sound card/speakers have been picked up correctly).

have no fears!... but yeah, i wouldn't take it back to pissy werld!

LOL no they dont, only if you have kiddy Nonce-sense on it.

Whoever told you that about the pirate stuff is talkin pi5h.

A friendly heads up Wink

a company will not give a toss aobut whats on your harddrive if your worried about pirate software then put it inside your documents and settings.

Places like PC world, packard bell, hp, Dell etc are not allowed to look in there without written permission.

dont send it off for repair without backing up data cos they will wipe the hdd.
