after a new visor for my Shoei XR1000, and either want dark tinted or an iridium one, I know possibly not for road use but do people get pulled for these? And is a genuine Shoei one with the extra £15 or so over the £20ish for a pattern one?

Whats darker to see out of too, a dark black tint or an iridium one?

Thanks in advance guys

I think dark tint looks cooler, Is not a problem to see out of although at night time things like cyclists etc without lights are very hard to see, I wear my clear visor at night.
Police don't treat dark visors so lightly at night time either.

In all levels of daytime light, the tint doesn't negatively affect my visibility.

-Your insurance will not be valid with an illegal visor.
-Other road users will think you are a chav. As a return, when you stop at a zebra crossing, pedestrians will hesitate crossing.

Police is not an issue tbh.
When they pull you, just say "sorry I have been held at the office, it won't happen again"

You could always stick with your clear visor and buy a tinted pinlock insert. No legal implications and can be swapped back to the clear one when the light starts to go. Thumbs Up

Given your previous statement, your arse would be in a sling for riding without valid insurance

I've taken my tinted pinlock insert out of my XR as now too dark on the unlit streets of my commute, I leave before sunrise and come home after dark.

Where is the evidence?

Also coppers may be human but it would/should be pointed out that your insurance was invalid...and I would say that invalid insurance is take quite seriously, because that effectively means riding without insurance.

Wearing a dark visor is fine as long as you carry a clear.

Calyx is talking shite, find me a single instance of somebody's insure not being valid for wearing a dark visor and I will eat my monitor.

Iridium visors scratch too easily and 9/10 look shit. Get an geniune Dark one

I use this place to get mine, good service best price. Get a visor bag (a bumbag that hold your visor) and carry a clear.

Cheers guys, I've decided on a genuine Shoei dark tint one, should i get it pinlock ready? I'm assuming this is so i can attach a clear pinlock insert to prevent misting up?

Or a dark tint in a clear visor.

as above is probably the best idea, ive got a clear visor with a clear and dark pinlock insert.
Ive also just put in a photocromatic insert, basicly like the transition sun glasses, dark when light vice versa.

We sell them for about £30, highly recommended if like me you cant be arsed to change it all the time.
