You need a clue,

This was on the way to the unity ride on sunday

I was at a cross roads when an R1 (04? had the twin cans at the back) pulled up next to me we where both going straight on and he goes for it. I'm like a whippet and will chase anything that moves the slightest bit fast. Expecting to get lost in the distance I gave it some anyway. As we came to the first corner in a slightly twisty road he leans right off the bike and goes round it at about 25 mph with the bike leant over about 10 degrees after the corner he looks over his shoulder and sees me right up is arse. He hairs off again untill the next corner same thing maximum hang off minimal lean and I'm right up his arse he looks over his should again and I'm right with him. exactly the same thing happens in the next corner. The next corner which is 90 degree right hander going on to the old A13 (A1306), I think I'm gonna have you here. It turns onto a 2 lane road one of which is a bus lane, I he cuts it fairly tight I go round him easly doing double the speed he is and power out I glance over as he is checking his shoulder to see where I am, The look of suprise as he faces forward and and sees a massive bloke on a massive bike with half the horse power of his in front of him was amazing to see in my mirrors.

And now the best part he cracks the power right open and flies past me as I'm easing off, he must not know the area well as there is a 30mph speed camera 300yds up the road his flies past probably doing nearly a ton, Flash, Flash, Fail.

You may brag to your mates how you where band doing 100 in a 30 but will you tell them about the bloke on a TDM taking you in the corner before and how he didn't get a speeding ticket Laughing

The only thing that would have made it better would have been having my top box on.

Stick to straight lines pal.

Here is the multimap it started heading south at the bigger cross roads in the top right at the start the first corner looks basically straight but it feels alot more of a curve in real life (enough to catch him in at least.) The speed camera is where the warehouses are in the bottom left you can't see it as the map is old (camera put in about 6 months ago.)

https://www.multimap.com/maps/?qs=cherry+tree&countryCode=GB#map=51.52604,0.18523|17|8&loc=GB:51.51848:0.19006:14|rainham|Rainham,%20Essex,%20England,%20RM13%209

Yes I might have been speeding in a 30 but no kitterns died and becides he started it. Laughing

Snigger. reminds me of a Duc on the Bristol ring road, left me behind on every straight only to find with him coming out of every roundabout. And I am not a very good rider, but he was shite.

As for the overtake Thumbs Up to you. LOL.

i enjoy that kinda thing on my rs 125 too. i get a few couriers that like to overtake and do silly filtering. they see my l plate and do it very often. that's when i start to give it some and i think most are 500's so i can keep up. sometimes i can actually filter better than them and beat them. not anything to brag about but it's tough being a l plater :p

well done to you. he obviously wnated to race you and you took him.

By the style of riding you could tell he had a high opinion of him self, quick accelaration massive hanging off 1 peice with untouched sliders. Constantly looking round to see if I as still with him.

If it was normal slow rider on a R1 I wouldn't care, the fact he was doing 90 (easy) in a 30 past a speed camera shows the guy was an arse and needed showing up.

Nice, how come you didn't try to warn him in some way of the gatso? Confused

Raced him and led him to a speed camera with your local knowledge, so very considerate.

Might be a power ranger complete with untouched sliders on a shiny R1 that's probably never been used other than on sunny weekends, but it's still massively gay to to stitch him up like that.

Guessing you'd be complaining if you'd passed him going the opposite direction and he didn't warn you about a speed trap ahead, what you did was no different.

You had a chance to see his sliders were untouched?

How pray tell would I warm an R1 that is at full throttle over taking me that there is a speed camera ahead?

I had rolled of the throttle after a short blast and he carried on, I didn't concider the camera till he shot past.

Anyone else?

Also I didn't led him, he led the whole way, I was going that way anyway and he was infront the whole way, till I over took him and I was infront for maybe 3/4 seconds after the last bend.

Oh well, made me chuckle!! Thumbs Up

I ride like that - accelerate on the straight bits, complete noob on corners, but I can't see me ever challenging anyone to race me!! Embarassed

Anyhows, thought everyone was supposed to ride for themselves and keep an eye out for speed limits etc. hardly Chris-red's fault imo

Surprised that we ain't seem the counter post were its.....

Some dick on a TDM tried to race me and then backed out just as I'd got him and failed to warm me about some great BIG YELLOW box that flashed....

I never bother to warn anyone of fixed speed cams as they should know they are there.... Its not like they are hard to miss....... And there are always plenty of warning signs...
Having said that the guy was asking for trouble spending soo much time looking where he was coming from and not where he was wenting too.....
Maybe the reason he kept looking behind on every corners was all the diesel on the road, making it so slippery that he could not corner properly.... Laughing

Exactly, even if he was a power-ranger it's still pretty stupid to not try to warn him considering you were a major factor to the cause of his high speeds.
So what you basically did was allow the guy to get banned and fined a silly amount from a scamera because he 'pwned' you in a straight line? I bet your cyber-penis feels really huge right about now... Rolling Eyes

As far as I see it, Mr. R1 was in control of his own vehicle.

If he's blind enough not to notice a big yellow box and funny road markings stretching for 50 yards in the road in front of him, not too mention displayed speed limit signs or the fact he's entering a more built up area, he shouldn't be travelling at said speeds.

Got no problem with people being slow on corners but the nobs that sit in the middle not filtering, wait for a mile-wide gap then full-throttle it to their next obstruction really get on my tits.

Maybe he was on a new set of tyres? Maybe he was new to the bike?

This forum goes one way or the other. This guy who is wearing his 1 peice leathers (maybe the most effective safety clothing on a bike?) is ripped for wearing nice looking 1 peice leathers. It either goes the way of 'ooh look at that power ranger' to 'that guy is wearing not protective trousers on his bike, what a n00b'.

Kudos you are a better rider than him, but unless you are familiar with who he is I wouldnt really race someone like that! And if he was clearly that bad, im sure your TDM should have been able to keep up on the exit of corners if you were so quick and he so slow.

Either way, racing is bad Thumbs Down I like the story though, and I also like 04 R1's. I too go relatively slowly round corners in areas I am unfamiliar with!

I've had a Blackberry for a few years now. I think, at best, they are ok for surfing the net. If you want a phone speciffically for surfing the net though, i'd look elsewhere.

Laughing What?

And about that guy.. it's his fault for going that quick in a 30, what if it was a mobile speed trap or a police officer in a car? How would the OP have warned him? Even if he flashed his lights what would the guy have done? Stared in his mirrors at him thinking why is he flashing??

If he's gonna do 90ish in a 30, he deserves to get caught, agitated or not.

Not worth passing opinion on warning him about the speed camera or not when the story is obviously at least partially fabricated for the tinternet.
