Can you get some that emulate stitches or something? I remember seeing football/rugby players using them, but are they available from chemists etc?

Yep! Just ask for a butterfly stitch equivalent.
Also let 'em see the cut as they can advise if you need anything more like seeing A&E, etc.

Yes you can get them. James had some in our first aid kit that we took hiking with us (and promptly used them all stitching my feet back together).

However, I'm not sure whether he blagged them from the Doctor's surgery or actually bought (unlikely that the boy would part with money) them.

Otherwise you can get the steri-strip jobbies that are just as good.
