I know, please don't throw too much stuff at me.

The old man's after a green laning bike. He doesn't want anything less than a 250. Small cc stigma I guess.

I've been looking at XR250/400s and 200/250/300EXCs.

Any other recommendations/thoughts?

From what I've heard about the XRs they are bomb proof and make a great starter bike.

The KTMs are Lighter and quicker being strokers, but require more maintainence.

Budget's no more than £1500, ideally about a grand. (Which puts us firmly in XR territory, the KTMs tend to be a little more, or so it seems.)

O, and it needs to be road legal.

Thanks muddy chaps.

My kdx 250 is up for sale soon...... Wink

I would go for a 2 stroke myself but then not really ridden a 4 stroke green laner. Could be a pain doing a lot of road miles on it though, unless he has a van?

I have a van for my track bike. Wink So it's not really an issue.

There are a few green lanes near me anyway I think.
