Yamaha Oil cooler pipes

My Diversion 600 has just sprung an oil leak from one of the corroded cooler pipes, so I am trying to source a replacement.

The best I have found is some rubbish second hand ones on ebay for £75! They look about as corroded as my current ones.

Anyway, a quick google has shown Demon tweaks sell the hose by the meter that can be cut to size required for pretty much any bike which looks promising. (see below)

What I was hoping on doing is cutting out the corroded section + replacing with a segment of this new hose from Demon.

My question is - is there anything special about the standard hoses (see picture attached) they have a fat bit that I have circled that I am wondering whether they contain a valve? If I cut this bit out and replace with the generic stuff from Demon will I be missing something vital in the pipe?

Second question is - Does anyone know what diameter hose I need to replace the standard XJ600 pipes? There are 4 choices of size on Demons website.

Final question is - What is the best way to attach the new section of hose so that it seals nicely?

Think they are just flexi hoses.

Fair chance that you can find someone local who can replace the flexi hose. Try someone that does hydraulic hoses (eg, industrial stuff).

The stuff on the Demon Tweaks site is designed to go with seperate fittings, not just slide over and existing pipe and be secured with a jubilee clip.

The same thing happened to my divvy earlier this year. Second hand oil cooler hoses are quite rare and ususally expensive and brand new ones are a ridiculous price.

The metal part of the cooler pipes have a bit of flair at each end where the flexi hose was crimped to it. The new hose was a perfect push fit over these flairs and a jubilee clip on each end and i've had no more leaks ever since.

It's not pretty but then again neither is the bike and it only ended up costing me about £7 - much better than £75.

You can also totally do away with the oil cooler. Just need a fitting kit to change the bits in the filter.

Older divvys never had a cooler.
