Hello all!

Im new to the biking world but have wanted to learn how to ride since I was 16 (im 27 now). The boyfriend has a Bandit and XT550 and convinced me to sit on the back while he blasted around town. Long story short, im now hooked and fed up of staring at my reflection in the back of his helmet! I have done the theory test already and am in the process of sorting out DAS.

Trouble is, being a long legged lass, I can't find a nice set of leathers that are long enough. Does anyone know of any companies that make leathers in longer leg lengths that arent especially manly?

I know, it took me long enough! I see lots of bikers on my way to way and can't help but feel a little jealous of them

Forgot to mention, the goal is for me and the boyfriend to go touring next summer. The Alps would be awesome but round the UK if im not totally ready for long journeys or driving on the wrong side of the road.

Did any of you set yourselves goals to achieve when you first learnt?

I can't answer your leather question, as I'm shorter side of the scale, however I can relate to your plan of touring through Europe.

I've only passed my test this year, after riding for a year on L plates, and if there is one thing I've learned is the sore bum, from sitting on a bike for hours... My plan was to go touring, year after doing my test, but now I'm thinking two maybe even three years. It will allow me to get more confidence, and for my lower parts to adjust to long journeys.

Focus on your DAS, then have a few long rides, and you will soon find out if you up for it next year!

My missus and I both wear Richa Monsoon trousers, they're available in a huge variety of styles and sizes so there's bound to be one that suits you. They are textiles, however.

Oooh, thanks for the tip. To be honest leathers would be nice but I just want something that will fit me that offers a tad more protection and warmth than jeans do.

I also have my CBT booked for Sunday. Can't wait!

I have the same problem! - my inside leg measures 34".... I have a pair of Richa Freedom's (women's) which are half leather/half textile. Find them really comfy to ride in and warm (I sometimes wear leggings underneath too )
If you do find somewhere that does longer leathers... (which are flattering!) could you let me know?

Its silly isnt it? Its almost as if manufacturers are saying that you can be a tall female biker as long as you dont mind wet ankles or wearing men's stuff.

I have a few leads on nicely fitted leathers which I will investigate and let you know kate.

Anyway, yesterday I passed my CBT in the rain. I took it on a CG 125 that wouldn't go into neutral without hassle, even the instructor had to give it a couple of go's. There were four of us; myself, a guy who had to come back for his third turn and two guys from Romania. The Romanian guys made me nervous, one of them kept stalling and when we were riding around in the carpark we had to go really slowly while he sorted himself out. Then I kept stalling. I had some issues with the u turn, emergency stop was easy. The Romanian guys were sent home at lunch leaving me on the geared bike and the other guy on a scoot.

Riding on the road was good fun, it pissed it down! I had to keep wiping my visor off . The instructor advised me against doing DA straight away, he said even a week of riding on the road will help me build up my confidence before I go onto bigger bikes. Im inclined to agree there!
